대한민국축제콘텐츠대상은 지역축제콘텐츠 산업에 크게 이바지한 지방자치단체와 지역 축제 관계자들을 시상함으로써 축제콘텐츠 산업의 자긍심을 고취하고 한국의 지역축제가 세계적으로 발전할 수 있도록 독려하기 위해 지난 2013년부터 개최됐다.
올해로 25주년을 맞이하는 봉화은어축제는 2015년부터 2019년까지 5년 연속 ‘문화체육관광부 선정 우수축제’, 2020년부터 2023년까지 4년 연속 ‘문화관광축제’로 선정됐다.
대한민국축제콘텐츠대상에서는 2018년, 2019년, 2020년, 2022년, 2023년 ‘축제관광부문’, 2021년 ‘비대면 축제부문’에서 대상을 수상함으로써 명실상부한 우리나라 대표 여름 축제로 자리매김했다.
박현국 봉화군수는 “올해도 봉화은어축제가 문화관광축제에 선정된데 이어 대한민국축제콘텐츠대상을 수상하는 쾌거를 이뤘으며, 올해도 다양한 프로그램 개발을 통해 봉화은어축제가 관광객 유치와 지역경제 활성화를 견인하는 축제가 될 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”라고 밝혔다.
