【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구가톨릭대(총장 성한기)가 ‘제11회 시몬장학금 수여식’을 개최했다고 11일 밝혔다.
지난 10일 교내 취창업관에서 열린 장학식 수여식을 통해 55명의 학생이 장학금 각 100만 원을 전달받았다.
정은규 몬시뇰은 독립운동가이자 교육자인 부친 고(故) 정행돈 선생의 뜻을 이어 지역 학생과 독립운동가 후손에게 매년 장학금을 지급했다.
지난 2005년부터 2013년까지 시몬장학금을 받은 대구가톨릭대 학생은 총 445명으로 매년 55명의 학생에게 장학금을 전달하고 있다.
성한기 총장은 “애국지사 정행돈 선생과 정은규 몬시뇰의 귀한 뜻을 이어받아 학업에 정진하고, 미래 사회를 이끌어갈 인재로 성장하길 바란다”고 말했다.
학생들은 “정은규 몬시뇰님은 많은 이들에게 큰 영감을 주었고 감사함을 다시금 일깨워 주었다”며 “여러 가지 지식과 경험을 쌓고, 사회에 이바지하는 인재로 성장하겠다”고 감사를 전했다.
