【브레이크뉴스 청송】이성현 기자=국립공원공단(이사장 주대영)은 지난 17일부터 20일까지 나흘간, 산불 피해를 입은 주왕산국립공원에서 전국 각지 국립공원의 자원봉사자들이 합동으로 복구 활동을 펼쳤다고 22일 밝혔다.

이번 봉사활동에는 주왕산국립공원을 비롯해 경주, 가야산, 속리산, 소백산, 소백산북부, 팔공산동부, 팔공산서부 등 인근 8개 국립공원의 자원봉사자 및 자원활동가 약 100여 명이 참여해 연대의 손길을 전했다.

봉사자들은 산불로 훼손된 월외지구 내 목책 난간을 철거하고 정비하는 작업에 힘을 보탰으며, 산불 예방을 위한 조치로 상의지구(대전사용연폭포)와 영덕지구(청련사대궐령) 탐방로 구간의 낙엽을 수거하는 활동도 함께 진행했다. 이와 함께, 생태계 복원을 위한 자생종 식재 작업도 이뤄져 산철쭉 등이 피해 지역에 새롭게 뿌리를 내리기 시작했다.

주대영 국립공원공단 이사장은 “자원봉사자들의 땀과 정성이 주왕산의 생태계를 되살리는 데 큰 힘이 되고 있다”며 “산불로 인한 아픔을 딛고 공원의 자연이 본래의 모습을 되찾을 수 있도록 지속적으로 복구에 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 국립공원공단은 향후에도 산불 피해 복구와 예방을 위한 국민 참여형 활동을 확대해 나갈 방침이다.

In addition, native species planting work for ecosystem restoration was also carried out, and azaleas and other plants began to take root in the affected areas.

Joo Dae-young, the president of the National Park Service, said, “The sweat and sincerity of volunteers are a great help in reviving the ecosystem of Juwangsan Mountain,” and “We will continue to work on restoration so that the park’s nature can regain its original appearance after overcoming the pain caused by the forest fire.”

Meanwhile, the National Park Service plans to expand citizen participation-type activities for forest fire recovery and prevention in the future.
