미국 정부는 현재 해외에서 반입되는 800달러 이하 물품에 대해 관세를 면제하고 있으나, 29일 0시(현지시간) 미국 도착분부터는 서류·서신을 제외한 모든 우편물에 대해 15%의 관세를 부과한다. 또한 중국·베트남산 등 제3국 제품이 포함될 경우 해당 국가의 관세율이 추가 적용될 수 있다.

우정사업본부는 미국 정부가 승인한 관세 대납 기관과 협의해 조속히 미국행 국제우편 접수가 정상화될 수 있도록 준비 중이다. 경북지방우정청은 관련 동향을 지속적으로 모니터링하고, 신속하게 고객에게 안내해 불편을 최소화하겠다고 밝혔다.

International Mail Acceptance Suspension Due to Changes in US Customs Policy
Due to changes in US customs policy, effective March 29th, the Postal Service will gradually suspend acceptance of all US-bound international mail, excluding documents.
