【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=국민의힘 대구 서구청장 김진상 예비후보가 10일 선거사무소를 열고 본격적인 선거운동에 돌입했다.

김진상 예비후보는 서구 신평리네거리 일원에 마련한 자신의 선거사무실을 주민에 공개하고 서구청장 도전을 공식 선언했다.

김 예비후보는 출마 직전 서구 부구청장을 역임했다. 이전에는 대구시청에서 대변인과 통합신공항추진본부장, 자치행정국장 등을 거치며 대구시의 굵직한 현안들을 권영진 시장과 함께 풀어낸 인물로 알려져 있다. 

특히, 통합신공항 유치 지역 선정과정에서의 그의 역할에 지역 정가도 공을 인정하고 있다. 

그는 이번 선거에 출마하면서 서대구역세권 대개발사업 추진과 염색산단 등 공단의 디지털 산업단지로의 전환, 맞춤형 육아·학습지원 대책 등 5가지 공약을 내걸고 있다.

정치에 첫 발을 내딛고는 있지만 분위기가 괜찮다는 평가다. 경선을 거쳐야 하는 현재의 국민의힘에서는 본인과 현 구청장 두 명만이 공천을 신청한 상태다. 현 구청장이 3선에 도전하고   있지만, 지역민 사이에서는 3선에 대한 피로감이 있는 데다 현 국회의원의 의중도 김 예비후보 쪽에 있는 것 아니냐는 소문이 이 지역에 퍼져 있다. 따라서 경선 과정에서 상당히 좋은 분위기를 안고 갈 수 있을 것이란 전망들이 나오고 있다.

김 예비후보는 이날 인사말에서 "지역에 맞는 정책들을 김상훈 의원과 힘을 합쳐 서부권 역사를 앞당기겠다“면서 ”이곳에서 뼈를 묻는다는 생각으로 열심히 뛰겠다"고 지지를 호소했다.
