장경식 포항시장 예비후보는 장애인들이 실제 신체적 상황을 극복하고, 현실생활에 합류해 당당한 사회인으로서 일어설 수 있도록 남구와 북구에 ‘장애인평생대학교’ 를 건립을 밝혔다.

아울러 ‘장애인평생대학교’의 운영은 가까운 대학교의 특수교육학과와 MOU를 체결해 장애인 개인별 MBTI 상담을 통해 맞춤형 전공교육으로 진행될 예정이라고 밝혔다.

특히 장애인들이 졸업과 동시에 실제 취업과 연결시키는 전공교육뿐만 아니라언제든지 필요한 교육을 받을 수 있도록 평생교육까지 겸할 계획이라고 덧붙였다.

또한 그동안 운영돼 온 두 복지센터도 형식적인 생활복지 수준을 넘어 사용자중심에서 꼼꼼하게 챙기고, 체계적인 서비스를 다시 점검한 후 지원을 확대할 계획이며 앞으로도 가장 현실적인 교육시스템으로 장애인의 사회참여 기회를 확대하고, 장애인이 더 행복한 포항으로 한 단계 업그레이드시키겠다고 강조했다.
