여 의원은 “많은 군민들이 염원하고 있는 선남골프장 조성 사업이 조속히 착수될 수 있는 방안을 집행부에서 심도 있게 논의해주길 바란다”며 “골프장 조성으로 군민들의 문화적 욕구를 해소함과 동시에 부가가치 및 고용 창출로 일거양득을 기대된다”고 강조했다.

앞서 성주군은 지난 2020년 8월 14일 선남골프장 조성․운영 민간사업시행자 공모에서 우선 협상대상자로 선정된 대방건설(주)과 사업협약을 체결한 바 있다. 

골프가 생활체육화 되어가는 추세에서 골프를 즐길만한 장소가 없는 성주군으로서는 지역의 골프 애호가를 비롯한 동호회원들의 타시군 유출을 지켜봐야 만하는 상황이다. 

여 의원은 “이런 안타까운 상황에서의 해결책 중 하나인 선남 골프장 조성사업이 사유지의 미매입으로 사업 착수가 늦어지고 향후 사업 추진 방향도 오리무중인 상황에서 성주군이 해결책을 찾아야 한다”고 거듭 강조했다.
