25일 동국대에 따르면 Frontiers in Immunology는 면역염증연구분야 저명 저널로 우유연 학생이 단독 제1저자, 김승남 교수가 단독 교신저자로 논문이 게재되었다.
김승남 교수와 우유연 학생은 2022년 연구 장학프로그램으로 경혈학교실에서 함께 연구를 수행하여 ‘염증에서 침치료의 국소부위 미세환경 및 전신면역에 미치는 효과(Changes of local microenvironment and systemic immunity after acupuncture stimulation during inflammation: A literature review of animal studies)’에 대한 주제로 신경학 SCI저널에 논문을 게재하는 성과를 거뒀다.
우유연 학생은 학기 중과 방학동안 경혈학교실 김승남 교수의 지도하에 침치료의 염증조절에 있어서 침이 처치되는 국소부위(근육, 피부 등)에서 일어나는 현상과, 전신적인 염증조절을 위한 신경계 순환계 등의 변화, 그리고 그 사이에서 나타나는 상호관계에 대해 관심을 갖고 연구에 매진해 왔다.
우유연 학생은 “침 치료는 신경전달에 대한 기전이 많이 연구되어 있었지만, 국소부위 반응관련 기전들이나 면역 등 전신 염증조절에 대한 기전이 폭넓게 다뤄진 적은 없었다며, 이번 연구를 통해 다양한 기존 과학연구들을 기반으로 침 치료의 국소-전신에 걸쳐 나타나는 염증관련 효과들을 연결할 수 있었다.”라며 연구를 성공적으로 수행한 소감을 말했다.
김승남교수는 “2021년 Nature 등 최우수 과학 저널에 경혈 자침의 염증조절기전에 대한 연구가 발표되는 등 침치료의 효과가 기초과학적으로 검증되어가고 있다. 그러나 비록 침의 기전 연구가 다방면에서 이뤄지고는 있지만, 침 처치가 시작되는 국소미세환경에서부터 그 효과가 전달되어 일으키는 전신적 영향까지 그 연결고리가 정리, 분석된 적은 없었다며, ”본 연구를 토대로 침치료 기전이 더 명확히 앞으로 나아갈 것이라 기대되며, 한의대생, 한의사뿐 아니라 일반인들에게 있어서도 침치료의 과학적 증거에 대해 제시해주는 중요한 디딤돌이 될 것”이라고 연구의 의의를 밝혔다.
동국대학교 한의과대학은 2018년부터 학부대학생들을 대상으로 연구장학프로그램을 운영하며, 실제 연구에 참여할 수 있는 기회를 제공하고, 학부생의 연구논문 참여의 기회를 주고 있다.
