경자구역 자문회의는 경제자유구역의 주요 정책, 개발계획의 수립 및변경 등 주요 사항에 대해 국토개발, 도시계획, 에너지 등 분야별 민간 전문가가 사전 검토를 실시해 산업부 장관이 위원장인 경제자유구역위원회의 심의를 지원하는 역할을 수행한다.

대구경북경자청은 이번 자문회의에서 논의된 검토사항 등을 보완한개발 변경(안)을 내달 초 산업부에 제출할 예정이며 관계 행정기관의협의를 거쳐 4월말 개최 예정인 경제자유구역위원회에 안건으로 상정하여 심의할 계획이다.

앞서 지난해 12월 21일 개최한 경제자유구역 심의위원회에서는 2단계사업지구내 일부 산업시설용지 및 연구시설용지를 유통상업시설용지및 복합시설용지로 전환하는 개발계획 변경안을 상정했지만 최종 논의결과 보류결정이 났었다.

이번 개발계획 변경안은 산업통상자원부의 보류 사유를 면밀히 검토하고보완하여 산업·문화·여가가 어우러져 지역주민과 상생하고 우수한 청년인력이 찾아올 수 있는 복합경제산업 구역 실현에 방점을 두고개발계획 변경 당위성에 대한 설명에 많은 시간을 할애했다.
