27일 의성군에 따르면 해당 어르신은 평소에 외부와 단절한 채 지내고 사람이 방문하는 것도 싫어하는 등 고독사 위험군으로 관리가 필요한 대상자였다.

이에 단북면은 8월 1일부터 시행하는 고독사 관리 사업인‘똑똑안부확인서비스’에 대상자를 등록하고 관리하였으며, 어르신에 대한 안부확인 알림이 지난 19일부터 지속적으로 발생하여 안부확인을 실시햇다.

22일에도 알림이 발생하여 오후 4시경 안부확인을 위해 복지팀장과 마을돌보미가 방문했다.

당시 현관문이 잠겨있고 기척이 없음을 느껴 119에 신고, 오후 5시경 도착한 구급대원이 화장실 창문을 통해 집안으로 진입 후 현관문을 개방하고 기력 없이 쓰러져있던 어르신을 발견하였다.

발견 당시 체온이 40도에 육박하는 등 위급한 상황이었으며 급히 인근 병원 응급실로 이송했다.

응급실로 이송된 어르신은 평소 지병과 더위로 인한 탈수, 영양부족이 심해 현재는 입원 치료 중인 것으로 전해졌다. 고독사할 수 있었던 위험한 상황이었다.

어르신의 보호자는“평소 몸도 좋지 않은 아버지가 혼자 지내시고 우리 3남매도 멀리 살고 있어 걱정은 많았지만, 이 정도로 건강 상태가 나쁜지 몰라 아버지께 너무 죄송하다.”라며 “우리 가족 대신 가족보다 더 잘 챙겨주신 복지팀과 마을돌보미분께 정말 감사하다는 말을 전하고 싶다.”라고 말했다.

‘똑똑안부확인서비스’는 단북면과 단북면지역사회보장협의체에서 시행하고 있는 고독사 관리 특화사업으로 고독사 위험이 있는 가구에 대해 유·무선 전화기에 일정 기간 통화기록이 없거나 자동 안부콜(ARS)에도 응답이 없을 시 곧바로 찾아가는 보건복지팀으로 안부 확인 알림이 통보, 현장확인을 하는 시스템이다.

The ‘Smart Well-being Check-in Service’ is a specialized project for managing lonely deaths implemented by Danbuk-myeon and the Danbuk-myeon Community Social Security Council. For households at risk of lonely deaths, if there are no call records on their wired or wireless phones for a certain period of time or if there is no response to the automatic safety call (ARS), the health and welfare team immediately visits the household to check on their well-being and conducts an on-site check-in.
