【브레이크뉴스 김천】이성현 기자=김천상공회의소(회장 안용우)는 지난 6월 30일 본 회의소 4층 회의실에서 ‘김천경영자발전협의회’ 주관으로 지역 취약계층 청소년을 위한 장학금 전달식을 개최했다.

이번 장학금은 한부모 가정, 다문화 가정, 특수교육 대상, 조손 가정 등 다양한 사연을 가진 학생 18명을 선정해 각 50만 원씩 지급됐다. 협의회는 이번 지원이 청소년들의 꿈과 희망을 응원하고, 지역사회 내 따뜻한 나눔 문화를 확산시키는 계기가 되기를 기대하고 있다.

김천경영자발전협의회는 김천 지역 10대 대기업 임원들로 구성된 민간 경제협의체로, 기업 간 교류와 협력을 통해 지역경제 발전과 사회공헌에 앞장서고 있다. 현재 회장은 이효규 코오롱인더스트리 김천2공장장이 맡고 있으며, 유한킴벌리·LG화학·코오롱생명과학 등 주요 기업의 임원들이 회원으로 활동 중이다.

안용우 회장은 “경영환경이 녹록지 않은 상황에서도 회원들이 뜻을 모아 장학금을 마련했다”며 “이번 장학금이 학생들에게 작지만 의미 있는 격려가 되길 바라며, 앞으로도 지역 인재 양성을 위한 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.

이효규 김천경영자발전협의회 회장도 “그동안 협의회가 성금과 물품을 통한 사회공헌활동을 꾸준히 해왔지만, 장학사업은 이번이 처음”이라며 “앞으로도 지역 학생들을 위한 다양한 응원과 지원을 지속할 계획”이라고 말했다.

이번 전달식은 기업이 지역사회와 상생하며 미래세대를 위한 사회적 책임을 실천한 사례로 평가받고 있다.

On June 30, Gimcheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Yong-woo Ahn) held a scholarship ceremony for underprivileged youth in the region, hosted by the ‘Gimcheon Management Development Council’, in the conference room on the 4th floor of the chamber.

This scholarship was awarded to 18 students with various backgrounds, including single-parent families, multicultural families, special education recipients, and grandparent families, and each received 500,000 won. The council hopes that this support will encourage the dreams and hopes of youth and serve as an opportunity to spread a warm culture of sharing within the local community.

Gimcheon Management Development Council is a private economic council comprised of executives from 10 major companies in the Gimcheon region, and is leading the way in regional economic development and social contribution through exchanges and cooperation between companies. Currently, the chairman is Hyo-gyu Lee, head of Kolon Industries’ Gimcheon Plant 2, and executives from major companies such as Yuhan Kimberly, LG Chem, and Kolon Life Science are active members.

Chairman Ahn Yong-woo said, “Even in a difficult business environment, the members came together to create a scholarship,” and added, “I hope this scholarship will be a small but meaningful encouragement to the students, and we will not spare our support for nurturing local talent in the future.”

Chairman Lee Hyo-gyu of the Gimcheon Management Development Council also said, “The council has been consistently carrying out social contribution activities through donations and goods, but this is the first time for a scholarship program,” and added, “We plan to continue to support and encourage local students in various ways in the future.”

This award ceremony is being evaluated as an example of a company coexisting with the local community and practicing social responsibility for future generations.
