【브레이크뉴스 구미】이성현 기자=구미대학교(총장 이승환) 사이클부가 ‘2025 KBS 양양 전국 사이클 선수권대회’에서 금메달 4개, 은메달 4개, 동메달 1개를 획득하는 우수한 성적을 거두며 전국 무대에서 존재감을 과시했다.
4일 대학측에 따르면 대한사이클연맹이 주최한 이번 대회는 지난 6월 21일부터 27일까지 강원도 양양에서 열렸으며, 전국 각지의 대학 및 실업팀 선수들이 치열한 경합을 벌였다.
구미대 사이클부는 김현우 선수가 1Lap 종목에서 금메달을 획득하고, 황정우 선수는 스크래치 종목에서 1위에 올랐다. 최정명 선수는 독주와 스크래치에서 각각 금메달과 은메달을 추가했고, 홍영택 선수는 개인추발 종목에서 금메달을 차지했다.
특히 홍영택 선수는 남자 일반부 도로독주(42km) 종목에서 실업팀과의 경쟁을 뚫고 2위에 오르며 2026년 아시안게임 국가대표 선발 가능성에 청신호를 밝혔다.
김승 스포츠건강관리과 학과장은 “선수들과 김길현 감독이 이뤄낸 성과에 진심으로 감사하고 자랑스럽다”며 “앞으로도 꾸준한 훈련과 도전으로 구미대 스포츠의 위상을 더욱 높여주길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
한편 구미대학교는 사이클부를 비롯해 축구부, 야구부, 배구부 등을 운영하며 전문 선수 양성과 더불어 스포츠 지도자 육성에 힘쓰고 있다.

Choi Jeong-myeong added a gold and silver medal in the solo and scratch events, respectively, and Hong Yeong-taek won a gold medal in the individual pursuit event.
In particular, Hong Young-taek came in second place in the men's general road race (42 km) event, beating out the professional team, and gave a green light to his possibility of being selected as a national team member for the 2026 Asian Games.
Kim Seung, the head of the Department of Sports Health Management, said, "I am truly grateful and proud of the achievements made by the players and coach Kim Gil-hyeon," and added, "I hope that they will continue to raise the status of sports at Gumi University through consistent training and challenges."
