이번 방문은 지방 보훈관서의 운영 실태를 살피고, 현장에서 근무하는 직원들의 목소리를 직접 듣기 위해 마련됐다. 권 장관은 간담회에서 직원들의 노고를 격려하고, 보훈행정 발전을 위한 다양한 의견을 허심탄회하게 나누며 소통의 시간을 가졌다.

권 장관은 “보훈의 최전선에서 일하는 여러분의 역할이 무엇보다 중요하다”며 “국민이 체감할 수 있는 보훈 서비스를 실현하는 데 최선을 다해 달라”고 당부했다.

이에 앞서 권오을 장관은 ‘2026년 1월의 6·25전쟁영웅’으로 선정된 이일영 공군 중위의 유족을 초청해 선정패 수여식을 개최하고 감사와 위로의 뜻을 전했다. 이날 행사에는 이일영 중위의 여동생 이춘영 씨를 비롯해 (사)이일영기념사업회 이사장 및 임원 등이 참석했다.

경북 안동 출신인 이일영 중위는 6·25전쟁 당시 총 44회 출격하며 낙동강 방어선 사수와 적 후방 수송로 차단 작전에서 큰 공을 세웠다. 그는 1952년 1월 9일 적 진지를 발견하고 공격을 감행하던 중 대공포에 피격돼 전사했다.

국가보훈부는 앞으로도 보훈 대상자 예우 강화와 현장 중심 행정을 통해 국민이 공감하는 보훈 정책을 지속적으로 추진해 나갈 방침이다.

The event was attended by Lieutenant Lee Il-yeong's younger sister, Lee Chun-yeong, as well as the chairman and executives of the Lee Il-yeong Memorial Foundation.

Lieutenant Lee Il-yeong, a native of Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, fought in 44 sorties during the Korean War, making significant contributions to defending the Nakdong River defense line and interdicting enemy transport routes. He was killed by anti-aircraft fire on January 9, 1952, while attacking enemy positions.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs plans to continue pursuing veterans' policies that resonate with the public by strengthening the treatment of veterans and implementing field-oriented administration.
