【브레이크뉴스 포항】오주호 기자=해병대1사단 공병대대에 근무하고 있는 최설아 하사(부371기/25세)는직접 손바느질을 해 만든 유아용품을 도움의 손길이 필요한 영유아에게 선물하는 정성기부에 동참하고 있다.

최설아 하사는 지난 4월부터 만든 유아용품은 배냇저고리, 손싸개, 발싸개, 꼭지모자, 턱받이, 속싸개, 수면조끼 등을 만들어 서울과 광주 영아일시보호소와 한 부모 가정 영유아를 지원하는 단체에 기부돼 영유아에게 전달됐다.

전달된 유아용품은 부모의 손길이 닿지 못하거나 경제적인 관심과 도움이 필요한 아이들에게전달되며 영유아들의 체온 유지, 상처 예방, 배앓이 예방 등 건강한 성장을 돕는 일에 쓰이고 있다.

최 하사는 입대 후 부대에서 실시하는 봉사활동을 통해 지역 내 보육원등을방문하며 나눔을 실천해왔다. 하지만 코로나-19 확산으로 인해 직접 시설방문이 어려워비대면으로 어린이들을 도울 수 있는 유아용품 정성기부 방법을 선택했다.

지난 4월 첫 번째 유아용품 기부를 시작한 최 하사는8월에는 소아암 환자들의 가발제작을 위한 모발 기부에도 동참해 가장 힘없고 약한 이들을 도와주는 나눔을 실천하고 있다.

최 하사는 2018년 입대 이후 로더 운전기능사 민간 자격증을 취득했고, 굴삭기, 장갑도저 등 공병장비 운전 자격을 갖추기 위해 퇴근 후 자격시험을 준비하는 중에도 아이들을 위한 바느질을 포기하지 않았다.

최설아 하사는 “돈을 주고 더 좋은 유아용품을 구입해 선물할까 고민해봤지만돈보다 정성이 담긴 선물이 의미있을 것 같았다”며 “지금은 어설픈 손바느질로아이들을 응원하지만, 훗날 기회가 된다면 군에서 배운 공병 장비 전문 기술을 이용해 아이들의 꿈을 짓고지켜주고 싶다”고 말했다.
