이날 대구시당 성소수자위원회 위원장으로 9개월간 준비위원회를 맡아온 윤영학 준비위원장이 선출될 예정이다.
윤영학 위원장은 ‘최근 한 달 간 우리에게 잘 알려진 성소수자 두 명이 차별과 혐오를 견디지 못하고 우리 곁을 떠났다. 슬픔과 애도를 넘어서 더 이상 동료 성소수자들을 잃지 않기 위해 행동할 것’이라는 포부를 밝혔다.
정의당 대구시당 성소수자위원회는 당내외의 성소수자 이해하기와 인권교육을 실시하고, 지역 성소수자 단체와 연대하여 혐오와 차별에 공동 대응을 할 계획이다.
또한, 지역 성소수자들이 모여 일상의 차별과 혐오에 대해 이야기를 나누고 의제를 발굴하는 활동들을 하겠다는 2021년 계획도 발표한다.
