의성군의회(의장 배광우)는 7일 열린 제248회 임시회제2차본회의에서 박화자 의원이 대표 발의한‘일본 후쿠시마 원전 오염수 방류 결정 규탄 및 철회 촉구 결의안’을 만장일치로 채택했다.

박 의원은 결의문 채택 제안 설명을 통해 “지난 4월 13일 일본 정부가 방사능 오염수를 저장한 후쿠시마 제1원자력발전소에서 나오는 방사성 물질을포함한 오염수를 해양에 방류하겠다는 방침을 공식 발표했다.”면서 “어떠한객관적이고 과학적인 검증자료도 공개되지 않은 상황에서의 방류 결정은 일본 내 시민단체와 지자체는 물론 주변국가 및 환경단체에서도 강하게 반대하고 있다. 해양은 모두가 공유하는 자원이며, 해양 오염은 국경없이 모든 인류에게 영향을 끼치는 재난이다. 지금 당장은 방사능 오염수로 인한 피해가 발생하지 않더라도 오염된 수산물을 장기간 섭취하면 신체에 방사성물질이 축적될 수 있기 때문에 국제사회의 협의와 검증절차를 거쳐 오염수를처리해야 한다.”고 말했다.

이에 군 의회 의원 일동은 “일본정부의 후쿠시마 방사능 오염수 해양방류결정을 강력히 규탄하고 이를 즉시 철회할 것을 촉구하며, 우리 정부도 단호하고 실효적인 대책을 조속히 마련할 것을 요구한다”고 결의했다.
