국민의힘 김순견(62) 전 경상북도 경제부지사가 24일 포항시청 브리핑룸에서 포항시장 출마를 선언했다.

김 예비후보는 “변화를 두려워하고 현실에 안주하는 불통의 포항에 마침표를 찍고 소통과 협치, 도전과 혁신이 살아 있는 젊고 역동적인 포항을 향한 도전을 시작하려 한다”고 출마의 변을 밝혔다.

포항은 한국의 철강산업의 수도이며 해양산업(해양관광 해양스포츠·레져 등)의 보고로써 환동해 물류중심과 4차 산업혁명 선도도시로 발전시켜 일자리가 넘치고 문화와 예술이 살아 숨쉬는 살맛나는(퓨처 비젼 에코 에듀 해피시티) 희망의 도시로 만들겠다고 약속했다.
