【브레이크뉴스 울진】이우근 기자=울진군의회(의장 김정희)는 지난 11월 20일 개회한 제280회 제2차 정례회 본회의에서'대구·경북 행정통합 반대 결의안'을 채택했다.

울진군의회 의원 전원이 참여하고 임동인 의원이 대표 발의하여 의결된 결의문을 통해 대구시장과 경북도지사 두 광역단체장이 주민동의 없이 일방적으로 추진하고 있는 행정 통합에 대한 반대 의사를 강력히 표명했다.

울진군의회는 결의문에서 "지역발전을 위한 인프라가 낙후되어 인구가 빠르게 감소되고 있는 경북 북부권은 대구·경북 행정통합으로 인해 도시인구 집중화 현상이 심화되어 직접적인 피해의 대상지로 전락할 것"이라고 우려했다.

가뜩이나 낙후되어 있는 경북 북부지역이 대구·경북 행정통합으로 인해 소멸할 수도 있다는 우려이다. 이어서 “행정통합의 당위성과 추진방향, 경북 북부지역 균형발전 방안 등을 지역주민들과 충분히 논의한 후 주민들의 의견을 충분히 수렴하여 대구·경북 행정통합을 추진하라”고 요구했다.

김정희 의장은 “이번 결의안 채택을 통해 광역자치단체 간 행정통합은 지역 주민들의 의견을 충분히 반영한 후 추진되어야 한다는 점을 분명히 했다.”라며, “향후 대구·경북 행정통합 추진 과정에서 겪게 될 지역 균형발전 계획 수립과 지역 간 갈등 해소 과정에서도 지역 주민들의 의사를 우선시하여 문제를 해결해 나가야 할 것”이라고 강조했다.
