이번 소방 훈련에서는 기숙사에서 생활하는 학생과 교직원 등 200여 명을 대상으로 화재 발생 시 대피 요령 및 소화기 작동 방법 등을 교육했다.

경북과학대는 또 지난 8월 30일 기숙사 샤워실에서 발생한 화재와 관련, 소화기를 사용한 신속한 초기 진화로 대형 피해를 막은 작업치료과 박진영 학생과 경찰행정과 박규현 학생에게 격려품을 전달했다.

백석기(경찰행정과 학과장) 경북과학대 숭덕관장은 “학생들이 일상생활 속에서도 철저한 안전 의식을 가질 수 있도록 정기적으로 교육과 훈련을 실시하고 있다”며 “학생들의 안전을 최우선으로 생각하고 철저한 사전 점검과 반복된 훈련으로 재난 예방에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
