한국뇌연구원(KBRI, 원장 서판길)은 지난 24일 대회의실에서 세계 최고 수준의 글로벌 분석 솔루션 개발업체인 미국 애질런트社(애질런트테크놀로지스 코리아, 대표 유재수)와 대규모 분석 플랫폼 공동 구축 등 공동 협력연구를 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.

한국뇌연구원에 따르면 최근 인간 뇌 지질체(Lipidomics) 연구는 패러다임 변화로 혁신적 연구방안 마련이 시급한 뇌연구에 새로운 해결책을 제시할 수 있는 분야로 세계적으로 부상하고 있다.

◦ 이에 한국뇌연구원은 애질런트社와 협력하여 ‘대규모 분석 플랫폼 공동 구축’ 및 차세대 원천기술 개발과 이에 따른 기술사업화 등 뇌 지질 연구를 본격화하기 위해 업무협약을 체결하였으며, 본격적 협력연구 강화를 위해 한국뇌연구원 내에 ‘한국뇌연구원-애질런트 뇌지표 분석센터(Center for Biomarker Research in Brain)’를 개소(이하 ‘뇌지표 분석센터’) 하게 됐다.

이번 업무협약으로 한국뇌연구원과 애질런트社는 대규모 분석 플랫폼 공동구축을 위해 ▲ 뇌 지질체 분석기술 공동개발 ▲ 지질체 분석 장비․소프트웨어 공동 활용 ▲ 뇌 지질 연구정보 공유 및 뇌 시료제공 ▲ 뇌 지질체 DB 구축 ▲ 분석기술의 사업화 등을 수행하게 된다.

또한, 이날 양 기관은 보다 전략적 협업관계 구축과 뇌-지질체 분석 관련 전문인력 양성을 위한 ‘뇌지표 분석센터’를 한국뇌연구원 내에 개소하고, 이를 기념하기 위해 현판식을 개최했다.

특히, 이번 행사에는 과학기술정보통신부 김봉수 기초원천연구정책관이 참석하여 양 기관을 격려하는 가운데 진행됐다.

그리고 한국뇌연구원은 성공적 연구 플랫폼 구축을 위해 국내외 전문가로 구성된 ‘뇌 지질체 분석 컨소시움’과 ‘학제간 협동연구 컨소시움’을 각각 발족하였으며, 뇌지표 분석센터 개소와 동시에 본격적인 활동을 시작했다.

이날 행사를 기념하고 컨소시움 활동의 첫 시작으로‘뇌 지질체 연구동향 및 미래 연구방향’을 주제로 특별 심포지움을 개최했다.

뇌 지질체 분석 컨소시움 구성원인 한국뇌연구원 퇴행성뇌질환연구그룹 윤종혁 그룹장, 애질런트社 이준석 이사, 연세대 화학과 문명희 교수, 충남대 분석과학기술대학원 안현주 교수, 한국기초과학지원연구원 생의학오믹스연구부 김진영 부장 등관련 전문가들이 참여하여 열띤 토론을 벌였으며, 유튜브를 통해 온라인으로 생중계도 실시했다.
