한울원자력본부에 따르면 이날 방사능방재 훈련은‘원자력시설 등의 방호 및 방사능방재대책법’ 및 ‘원자력사업자의 방사선비상대책에 관한 규정’에 따라 원자력 시설 사용개시 전 비상 대응능력을 점검하기 위한 훈련으로 이번 훈련은 경북북부지역 강풍 및 낙뢰발생으로 인해 발전설비가 손상되어 신한울2호기의 모든 전원 공급이 차단되는 비상 상황을 가정해 진행했다.

신한울2호기 최초훈련은 APR1400에 최적화된 훈련을 위해 6개월간의 준비기간을 거쳐 신규 시나리오 개발, 발전소운전변수 및 노심손상평가 등의 훈련요소를 시뮬레이터 검증을 통해 구성했으며, 4차례의 실전 같은 연습을 수행하며 훈련을 준비했다.

박범수 본부장은“신한울2호기 최초훈련은 비상요원의 비상대응능력을 점검할 수 있는 좋은 계기가 되었다”며 “신한울 2호기의 남은 운영허가 사항도 완벽하게 준비하여 국가 전력산업에 보탬이 되도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
