【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=한국로봇융합연구원(이하 KIRO)은 1월31일 ㈜대동과 공동으로 미래 농업환경에서 요구되는 농기계의 무인화, 스마트화, 전동화 기술 개발을 위해 ㈜대동 서울사무소에 ‘㈜대동-KIRO 로보틱스센터’를 개소했다고 1일 밝혔다.

이날 개소식에는 KIRO 여준구 원장, 정구봉 선임연구본부장, 서갑호 지역연구본부장,민정탁 미래전략사업실장과 ㈜대동 원유현 대표이사, 권기재 부사장, 감병우 상무 그리고 김경수 카이스트 교수(기계공학), 송재호 KT AI/DX융합사업부문장(부사장) 등 관계자들이 참석했다.

㈜대동-KIRO 로보틱스센터는 오는 25년까지 ▲농작물 자율운반을 위한 추종 로봇 ▲ 경운, 파종, 수확 등 농작물 전주기에 활용 가능한 전동형 로봇관리기 ▲실내용 배송로봇 등을 개발하고 관련 분야 핵심기술의 세계적인 경쟁력을 확보하고자 한다.

㈜대동은 상용화 제품의 양산화 경험을 바탕으로 플랫폼 H/W 및 주행제어 연구를 담당하고, KIRO는 보유하고 있는 다양한 로봇기술을 기반으로 자율주행 등 요소기술의 S/W 개발을 전담하여, 핵심기술 확보 후 상용화에 성공하는 것을 목표로 한다.

㈜대동 원유현 대표이사는 “KIRO와 공동 운영하는 로보틱스센터를 통해 농업/비농업 분야의 로봇 사업을 위한 핵심 경쟁력을 만들고 미래농업 세상의 구축 속도를 높일 것이며, 로보틱스센터는 대동의 로봇 사업 진출의 시작점이며 로봇 전문 기업으로 도약하는 전환점이 될 것“이라고 말했다.

한국로봇융합연구원 여준구 원장은 “우리가 보유한 우수한 로봇기술을 국내 기업과 공유하여 민간기업의 신규로봇시장 진출 및 성장에 기여하고자 한다. ㈜대동-KIRO 로보틱스센터는 KIRO의 강점 분야 중 하나인 농업로봇 분야에서 ㈜대동과 함께 협력하여 미래농업 관련 로봇기술의 세계적 기술 경쟁력 확보에 성공하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

한편, KIRO는 지난해 창립 10주년을 기점으로 KIRO 2.0을 선포하고 최근 LIG넥스원과 AI공동연구실(AI Co-Lab)을 개소하는 등 국내 글로벌 기업들과의 공동연구를 추진하며 글로벌 로보틱스 분야의 전문연구기관으로의 성장을 향한 도전을 이어가고 있다.

Opened Daedong-KIRO Robotics Center

Meanwhile, KIRO announced KIRO 2.0 on the 10th anniversary of its founding last year and recently opened an AI Co-Lab with LIG Nex1, promoting joint research with domestic global companies and conducting specialized research in the field of global robotics.
