23일 경북교육청(교육감 임종식)에 따르면 자율형 공립고 2.0은 학교가 지자체와 대학․기업 등 지역의 다양한 주체와 협약을 체결하여 지역 자원을 활용해 교육과정을 혁신하는 학교로 경산고등학교, 봉화고등학교, 상주여자고등학교, 안동고등학교, 영주제일고등학교, 율곡고등학교(김천), 인동고등학교(구미) 등 도내 7교가 최종 선정됐다.

자율형 공립고 2.0은 교육과정 운영에 있어 기존의 자사고와 특목고 수준의 자율성이 부여되며, 교장 임용에서도 개방형 교장공모제가 적용된다. 또 교사 정원의 50%까지 초빙 임용이 가능하며, 교원 추가배정과 산학겸임교사 임용 지원이 가능해진다.

이와 함께 자율형 공립고 2.0에 선정된 7교는 앞으로 5년간 매년 2억 원씩 교육부와 교육청의 지원을 받게 되며, 지자체와 지역 대학, 기업, 연구기관, 공공기관 등과 체결한 협약을 토대로 지역별 다양한 상황과 특성, 요구 등을 반영하여 협약 기관이 보유한 인적․물적 자원을 활용해 특색 있는 교육모델 운영으로 지역 교육력 향상을 선도할 전망이다.

한편, 이번 교육부 2차 공모에서는 전국 64교가 신청해 45교가 선정됐으며, 경북은 2025학년도 3월부터 운영되는 전국 25교 중에 경기도와 함께 가장 많은 7교가 선정되는 쾌거를 거뒀다.

경북교육청은 교육경쟁력 강화와 지역 발전 전략에 발맞추어 자율형 공립고가 지역 거점학교로 자리 잡아 교육혁신을 선도하고 지역인재 양성을 이끌어갈 수 있도록 선정교와 준비 학교를 대상으로 전문가 컨설팅을 제공하고, 제도 개선을 통해 교육모델 혁신에 걸림돌이 될 수 있는 각종 규제를 완화하는 등 적극적인 행․재정적 지원을 펼쳐 나갈 계획이다.

임종식 교육감은 “자율형 공립고 2.0 2차 공모에 7교가 선정된 것은 교육여건 개선을 위한 교육공동체 전체의 수고와 열정적인 노력 덕분이다”라며, “선정 학교가 지역 상황과 요구를 반영한 자율적 교육모델 운영을 통한 공교육 혁신과 지역교육 활성화를 바탕으로 한 자율형 공립고 2.0 모델을 창출하고 우수사례를 확산시킬 수 있도록 적극 지원해 나가겠다”라고 말했다.
