경북교육청이 추진하는 ‘학교안전 취약학교 지원사업’은 범죄예방환경설계(CPTED)를 적용해 학교폭력과 외부의 위협에서 학생을 안전하게 보호하는 데 목적이 있다.

범죄예방환경설계(CPTED)란 환경설계를 통한 범죄예방을 지칭하는 것으로 건축물 등 도시시설을 설계 단계 부터 범죄를 예방할 수 있는 환경으로 조성하는 기법 및 제도 등을 말한다.

사업 선정 기준은 범죄예방환경설계(CPTED) 관점을 적용하며 학교 내․외부 환경과 안전인프라 현황을 검토해 안전이 취약하고 우선 지원이 필요한 학교를 기준으로 선정할 예정이다.

이에 따라 오는 2월말까지 도내 초․중․고등학교를 대상으로 신청서를 받고 오는 3월 공립학교 4개교, 사립학교 1개교 총 5개교를 선정하여 각 학교당 2000만 원씩 지원할 계획이다.

경북교육청 심원우 교육안전과장은 "사업을 효율적으로 추진해 범죄 없는 안전한 학교를 만들겠다"면서 “다양한 안전사업 추진을 통해 학생과 학부모가 신뢰할 수 있는 안전하고 학교 환경 조성을 위해 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
