However, it is facing a serious crisis due to decades of accumulated heavy metal pollution. A comprehensive government response, the enactment of special laws, robust management and supervision, and the development of a national roadmap for purification and restoration are urgently needed."

Chairman Kim also stated, "I hope this forum will not be a one-off discussion, but will serve as an opportunity to spark substantive policy shifts and draw national attention." He added, "Andong City Council will continue to do its utmost to protect the lives and safety of its citizens."
