【브레이크뉴스 안동】이성현 기자=안동시의회(의장 김경도)는 지난 23일 안동문화예술의전당에서 제137차 경북북부지역 시·군의회 의장협의회 월례회를 개최했다.

이번 월례회는 안동시의회가 주관했으며, 김경도 안동시의회 의장을 비롯해 북부권 6개 시·군의회 의장과 권기창 안동시장 등이 참석해 지역 현안을 논의하고 각 시·군의 주요 홍보사항을 공유했다.

이날 회의에서 의장단은 최근 논의가 본격화되고 있는 대구·경북 행정통합과 관련해 각 지역의 의견을 교환하고, 통합 논의 과정에서 지역 주민의 의견이 충분히 반영돼야 한다는 데 공감대를 형성했다.

특히 북부권 지역의 행정 여건과 균형발전 측면을 종합적으로 고려한 신중한 논의가 필요하다는 데 뜻을 모았다. 의장단은 행정통합이 지역의 미래에 중대한 영향을 미치는 사안인 만큼, 지역별 특성과 현실을 반영한 접근이 중요하다는 점을 강조했다.

김경도 안동시의회 의장은 “행정통합은 지역의 미래와 직결되는 중대한 사안”이라며 “북부권 시·군의 현실과 주민들의 목소리가 충분히 반영될 수 있도록 의장단 간 지속적인 논의를 통해 공동된 의견을 정리해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

이날 월례회에는 권기창 안동시장도 참석해 축사를 통해 북부권 균형발전과 지역 여건을 고려한 논의의 중요성을 강조했다.

경북북부지역 시·군의회 의장단은 향후 각 시·군 의회 차원의 의견 수렴과 내부 논의를 거쳐 공동 입장을 정리하고, 주민과의 소통을 강화해 지역의 의견이 정책 논의에 실질적으로 반영될 수 있도록 노력할 계획이다.

한편, 경북북부지역 시·군의회 의장협의회에는 안동시, 영주시, 상주시, 문경시, 의성군, 청송군, 영양군, 영덕군, 예천군, 봉화군, 울진군 등 경북북부지역 11개 시·군의회가 참여하고 있다. 협의회는 의정활동 정보 교류와 지역 공동 현안 논의를 위해 두 달에 한 번 정기 회의를 개최하고 있으며, 다음 월례회는 오는 6월 영주시에서 열릴 예정이다.

Andong Mayor Kwon Ki-chang also attended the monthly meeting and, in his congratulatory remarks, emphasized the importance of balanced development in the northern region and discussions that take regional conditions into account.

The council of city and county councils in the northern Gyeongbuk region plans to gather input from each city and county council and internally discuss the matter to develop a common position. Furthermore, by strengthening communication with residents, the council plans to ensure that local opinions are effectively reflected in policy discussions.

Meanwhile, the Gyeongbuk Northern Region City and County Council Speakers' Council comprises 11 city and county councils in the northern region, including Andong, Yeongju, Sangju, Mungyeong, Uiseong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, Yeongdeok, Yecheon, Bonghwa, and Uljin. The council holds regular meetings every two months to exchange information on legislative activities and discuss common regional issues. The next monthly meeting is scheduled for June in Yeongju.
