방사능방재 연합훈련은 방사선 비상사고 발생 시 조기 수습을 통해 국민 생명과 재산을 보호하고 환경 피해를 최소화하기 위해 원자력안전위원회 주관으로 관계 중앙행정기관과 합동으로 시행된다.

이번 훈련은 가압기 안전밸브 누설로 인한 원자로 수동 정지와 지진으로 인한 발전소 비상 상황을 가정해 진행됐다. 훈련에서는 대응시설 발족·운영, 주민보호 조치, 방사선 감시, 비상 진료, 원전사고 수습 등 비상 대응 능력뿐만 아니라 원자력안전위원회, 지방자치단체, 원자력사업자의 의사결정 절차까지 종합적으로 점검했다.

이세용 본부장은 “위기 대응 역량을 실제 수준에서 점검하고자 극한 상황을 가정했다”며, “반복된 훈련을 통해 절차와 행동 요령을 체화하여 어떠한 비상 상황에서도 철저하고 신속하게 대응하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Hanul Headquarters Conducts National Radiological Emergency Preparedness Training for Hanul Unit 5

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. Hanul Nuclear Headquarters (CEO Lee Se-yong) conducted a "National Radiological Emergency Preparedness Training" for Hanul Unit 5 on September 30th. The training involved government agencies such as the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission (NSSC), the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS), local governments, the military, police, and fire departments.

The NSSC conducts joint training with relevant central government agencies to protect public life and property and minimize environmental damage through early response in the event of a radiological emergency.

The training simulated a manual reactor shutdown due to a pressurizer safety valve leak and a power plant emergency caused by an earthquake. The training comprehensively reviewed emergency response capabilities, including the establishment and operation of response facilities, resident protection measures, radiation monitoring, emergency medical care, and nuclear accident recovery, as well as the decision-making processes of the NSSC, local governments, and nuclear power operators.

Chief Lee Se-yong stated, “We simulated extreme situations to test our crisis response capabilities at a realistic level,” and added, “Through repeated training, we will internalize procedures and action guidelines to respond thoroughly and quickly in any emergency situation.”
