국립금오공대는 교내 산학협력관에 ‘K-MOSA 연구센터’를 개소하고 국방 유무인 복합체계(MUM-T) 기반의 개방형 아키텍처 연구·교육·실증을 본격화한다고 밝혔다.

‘K-MOSA(Korean Modular Open Systems Approach; 한국형 모듈식 개방형 시스템 접근) 연구센터’는 국방 유무인 복합체계의 개방형 아키텍처 체계를 선도적으로 연구하고, 지역 방위산업과 연계한 개방형 기술 생태계 조성을 목표로 지난달 23일 문을 열었다.

연구센터는 국립금오공대 RISE사업단을 중심으로 국방시스템공동연구소, 스마트군수혁신융합연구센터, ICT융합특성화연구센터가 공동 운영 주체로 참여한다. 대학은 그동안 각 기관이 축적해 온 K-MOSA 관련 연구 성과를 바탕으로 국방·ICT 융합 역량을 결집해 이번 센터 개소를 추진했다.

국립금오공대는 국방부와 국방기술진흥연구소, 국방기술품질원, 방위산업체 등이 발주한 K-MOSA 핵심 과제를 연속 수행하며 △K-MOSA 지침 및 가이드라인 수립 △임무장비 및 소재·부품·장비(소부장) 연구 △시험·평가·인증 기준 마련 등 전주기 연구 역량을 확보해 왔다. 이를 통해 K-MOSA 분야의 전문 대학 연구기관으로 입지를 다져왔다.

이번에 출범한 연구센터는 그간의 연구 성과를 토대로 △MOSA·모듈화·개방형 아키텍처 관련 기초·응용·정책 연구 △국방·공공·산업 분야 대상 K-MOSA 적용 시나리오 및 참조 아키텍처 개발 △표준(Open Interface, API, Data Model) 기반 모듈 분해 및 통합 방법론 연구 등을 중점 추진할 계획이다.

아울러 방산기업, 국방 연구기관, 군 운용기관과의 협력을 확대해 공동 연구 및 기술 실증을 강화하고, 전문 인력 양성 프로그램도 단계적으로 운영할 방침이다.

권오형 국립금오공대 RISE사업단장은 “K-MOSA 연구센터는 국내에서 유무인 전투체계를 대상으로 K-MOSA 지침부터 임무장비, 시험·인증까지 전 과정을 수행한 연구 경험을 집약한 조직”이라며 “한국형 개방형 국방기술의 표준 정립과 현장 적용을 선도하는 핵심 거점으로 발전시키겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, RISE사업단은 경북형 방산혁신단(G-DIU) 운영 등을 통해 지역 기반 방산 혁신 생태계 구축에 힘쓰고 있으며, ICT융합특성화연구센터는 ‘지역지능화혁신인재양성사업’을 통해 민군 ICT 융합 특화 연구와 전문 인력 양성을 지속해오고 있다.

KIT announced the opening of the 'K-MOSA Research Center' in the Industry-Academic Cooperation Building on campus, launching full-scale research, education, and demonstration of open architectures based on the Manned-Unmanned Multi-System (MUM-T) for Defense.

The 'K-MOSA (Korean Modular Open Systems Approach) Research Center' opened on the 23rd of last month with the goal of pioneering research on open architecture systems for manned-unmanned multi-system defense and fostering an open technology ecosystem linked to the local defense industry.

The research center is jointly operated by KIT's RISE (Research and Engineering Experimental Studies) Project Group, along with the Defense Systems Joint Research Institute, the Smart Logistics Innovation Convergence Research Center, and the ICT Convergence Specialization Research Center. The university launched this center by consolidating its defense and ICT convergence capabilities, building on the accumulated research achievements related to K-MOSA from various institutions.

Kumoh National Institute of Technology (KIT) has continuously implemented key K-MOSA projects commissioned by the Ministry of National Defense, the Defense Technology Advancement Agency, the Defense Agency for Technology and Quality, and defense industries. It has secured full-cycle research capabilities, including establishing K-MOSA guidelines and guidelines, conducting research on mission equipment and materials, components, and equipment (SMEs), and developing testing, evaluation, and certification standards. Through these efforts, KIT has solidified its position as a specialized university research institute in the K-MOSA field.

Building on these research achievements, the newly launched research center will focus on: 1) basic, applied, and policy research related to MOSA, modularization, and open architecture; 2) developing K-MOSA application scenarios and reference architectures for the defense, public, and industrial sectors; and 3) research on standard (Open Interface, API, Data Model)-based module decomposition and integration methodologies.

Furthermore, the center plans to expand cooperation with defense companies, defense research institutes, and military operating agencies to strengthen joint research and technology verification, and to gradually operate a specialized human resource development program.

Kwon Oh-hyung, Director of the RISE Project at Kumoh National Institute of Technology, stated, "The K-MOSA Research Center is an organization that has accumulated research experience in conducting the entire process for manned and unmanned combat systems in Korea, from K-MOSA guidelines to mission equipment, testing, and certification. We will develop it into a key hub for establishing standards for Korean open defense technologies and leading their field application."

Meanwhile, the RISE Project is striving to build a regional defense innovation ecosystem through initiatives such as the Gyeongbuk Defense Industry Innovation Unit (G-DIU). The ICT Convergence Specialization Research Center continues to conduct specialized research and cultivate specialized human resources in civilian-military ICT convergence through the "Regional Intelligence Innovation Talent Development Project."
