이 예비후보는 6일 “성평등의 가치를 기반으로 존중과 평등의 교육을 실현하고, 모두가 함께 성장하는 경북교육을 만들어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

이 후보는 ‘3.8 세계 여성의 날’을 맞아 6일 경주에서 열리는 기념행사와 7일 포항여성대회에 참석해 성평등 교육의 필요성과 교육정책 방향을 알릴 계획이다.

그는 “경북은 성평등지수가 전국 최하위 수준에 머물러 있고, 청소년들이 온라인 성범죄 피해에 노출되는 사례도 적지 않다”며 “페미니즘에 대한 오해와 왜곡된 정보도 확산되고 있어 이를 바로잡기 위한 성평등 의식 강화 교육이 필수적”이라고 말했다.

이용기 예비후보는 31년간 중·고등학교에서 근무한 평교사 출신으로, 전국교직원노동조합 경북지부장을 역임했다. 현재 전국교육자치혁신연대 공동대표와 경북혁신교육연구소 공감 소장을 맡고 있으며, 지난해 12월 12일 경북 지역 시민단체와 시민들이 결성한 ‘경북교육희망 2026’ 경선에서 민주진보 단일 후보로 선출됐다.
