이번 봉사활동은‘코로나19’로 농촌의 일손 부족과 수확이 임박한 시점에 여러 차례 온 태풍으로 인한 낙과 등 농업재해와 가격 불안정으로 힘들어하는 농민들을 위로하기 위해 지방행정과 35명의 학생들이 자발적으로 참여했다.

농장주 신범식(42) 씨는“어려운 환경 속에서 일손을 도와주는 것도 고맙지만, 무엇보다 농촌의 환경을 이해하고 함께 고민하는 학생들의 모습이 대단하다”며 학생들에 대한 칭찬을 아끼지 않았다.

박소영 학생대표는“우리 지방행정과는 공무원 양성의 산실로 유명한 만큼 앞으로도 농촌의 문제를 외면하지 않고, 공무원이 된 이후에도 농촌이 발전할 수 있는 방법을 고민하겠다”고 말했다.

한편 경북도립대학교 지방행정과는 올해 실시된 공무원 공채시험에 2명의 합격자를 배출하는 등 지금까지 100명 이상의 공무원과 공공기관 취업자를 배출했다.
