시는 소관 사업별 중앙 부처를 방문하여 지역 현안 사업에 대해 적극적으로 설명하고 임이자 국회의원과 지속적인 협조체계를 유지하며 재원 확보에 총력을 기울인 결과로 풀이하고 있다.

시가 올해 확보한 특별교부세는 14개 사업으로 지역 현안 사업 2건에 23억 원, 재난 안전 사업 10건에 33억 원, 국가시책사업 2건에 3억 원이다.

주요 사업은 ▲모전교 보수보강공사 7억 원 ▲흥덕생활공원 조성사업 15억 원 ▲새재자전거길 쉼터 조성사업 8억 원 ▲동로면 간송리 사부교 정비사업 13억 원 ▲산북면 대화리 덕내교 정비사업 7억 원 둥으로 시민의 생명과 재산 보호 및 지역 균형 발전에 기여할 것으로 기대한다.

신현국 문경시장은 “특별교부세는 지역 현안 사업이나 재난 등 예기치 못한 재정수요를 고려해 정부가 배분하는 예산으로 재정 여건이 어려운 지자체에 꼭 필요한 재원이다”며 “앞으로도 지역 현안 사업의 조속한 추진과 재난 예방을 위해 끊임없는 새로운 사업을 발굴하고 중앙 부처 및 임이자 국회의원과 긴밀한 협력관계를 구축해 특별교부세 확보에 최선을 다 하겠다.”고 말했다.
