그는 이날 선민후사를 강조하면서 △국회의원 불체포 특권 포기 △지역구 3선 초과 제한 실천 △국회의원 의정평가제로 50% 이상 부정평가 시 차기 출마 포기 △국회의원 세비 국민 눈높이에 맞는 방안 추진 등을 내놓았다. 이와 함께 △ 21세기 정치를 위해 경제 강국 대한민국의 선진정치 실현 △국민과 국익을 우선하는 선민정치 △정책 기반의 민생정치 구현을 약속했다. 

오 예비후보는 “수성구에 대한 정확한 이해와 정책적 판단, 대안을 갖고 있다”고 밝힌 뒤 “대구경북연구원 원장 재임 시 대규모 단독주택지 관리방안 정비, 수성·경산 경제협력 실천전략 연구를 추진했고, 지역 교육의 글로벌화 전략 연구에 참여한 경험이 이를 말해주고 있다”며 자신감을 피력했다. 

수성구에 맞는 맞춤형 비전으로는 기능 고도화, 공간구조 혁신을 통해 시지·연호지역에 ‘수성 신도시’를 제시했다. 

이를 위해 군부대 조기 이전을 통한 공간 확보, 확보한 공간에 디지털 혁신 거점 및 비지니스서비스산업 집적지 확대 구축, 벤처기업가 및 청년 주거공간 조성, 군부대 주변지 문화스포츠복합타운 조성, 시지·노변 노후계획도시특별정비구역 지정 등을 제시했다. 이를 통해 수성 신도시가 대구 동남권, 인근 경북권, 경남 북부권까지 아우르는 ‘100만 광역경제권 중추도시’로 자리잡도록 하겠다고 했다.
