【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구광역시는 3월 30일 시청 동인청사에서 ‘대구광역시 시사편찬위원회’ 위촉식과 첫 회의를 열고, 대구의 역사와 정체성을 체계적으로 정리하기 위한 시사 편찬 사업에 본격 착수했다.
이번에 출범한 시사편찬위원회는 대구의 역사 연구와 시사 편찬·발간을 심의하는 기구로, 고고학·역사학·민속학·사회학·언론학 등 각 분야 전문가 13명으로 구성됐다.
대구시는 1973년과 1995년 두 차례 시사를 발간한 이후 약 30년간 체계적인 시사 편찬 사업이 중단된 상태였다. 그러나 최근 문화유산과 신설을 계기로 역사총서 및 사료총서 발간, 고서 번역, 학술회의 개최 등 관련 기반 사업을 단계적으로 추진하며 편찬 체계 재정비에 나서왔다.
이날 열린 첫 회의에서는 주보돈 위원이 위원장으로, 이윤갑 위원이 부위원장으로 각각 선출됐으며, 2026년 대중서 형태의 역사총서 제작과 학술회의 주제, 향후 ‘대구시사’의 중장기 편찬 방향 등에 대한 논의가 이뤄졌다.
앞으로 위원회는 대구의 역사와 문화, 사회 변화를 종합적으로 정리하는 ‘대구시사’ 편찬을 위해 학문적 검증과 집필, 자문 역할을 수행하게 된다.
대구시는 시사편찬위원회를 중심으로 사료 발굴과 연구를 확대하고, 대구의 역사와 정체성을 집대성한 ‘대구시사’ 편찬을 위한 중장기 계획 수립에 속도를 낼 방침이다. 아울러 시민들이 일상에서 쉽게 접할 수 있는 역사 콘텐츠 발굴에도 힘을 쏟을 계획이다.
김정기 대구광역시장 권한대행 행정부시장은 “대구의 역사를 제대로 기록하고 미래 세대에 전하는 일은 매우 중요한 과제”라며 “위원회를 중심으로 대구의 역사와 정체성을 균형 있게 정리하고 시민과 소통하는 역사 기록 사업으로 발전시켜 나가길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

Systematic compilation of Daegu City history had been suspended for approximately 30 years following the publication of the city history twice, in 1973 and 1995. However, taking advantage of the recent establishment of the Cultural Heritage Division, the city has been working to reorganize its compilation system by progressively promoting related foundational projects, such as the publication of history and historical source series, the translation of ancient books, and the hosting of academic conferences.
Daegu City Launches History Compilation Committee… Full-scale Compilation of ‘Daegu City History’ Begins At the first meeting held on this day, Member Joo Bo-don was elected as Chairperson and Member Lee Yun-gap as Vice-Chairperson. Discussions were held regarding the production of a popular history series in 2026, themes for academic conferences, and the mid-to-long-term compilation direction for the ‘Daegu City History.’
Going forward, the committee will perform roles of academic verification, writing, and advisory to compile the ‘Daegu City History,’ which comprehensively summarizes Daegu’s history, culture, and social changes.
Daegu City plans to expand the discovery of historical materials and research centered on the City History Compilation Committee, and accelerate the establishment of a mid-to-long-term plan for the compilation of the ‘Daegu City History,’ which synthesizes Daegu’s history and identity. In addition, the city plans to focus its efforts on discovering historical content that citizens can easily access in their daily lives.
Kim Jeong-gi, Acting Mayor of Daegu and Administrative Vice Mayor, stated, “Properly recording Daegu’s history and passing it on to future generations is a very important task,” adding, “I look forward to developing this into a historical documentation project that communicates with citizens and organizes Daegu’s history and identity in a balanced manner, centering on the committee.”
