【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구시는 자원봉사자의 날(12월 5일)과 자원봉사주간을 맞아 10일  중앙컨벤션센터에서 ‘제29회 대구자원봉사자 대회’를 개최했다고 밝혔다. 이번 행사는 지역사회 발전을 위해 헌신해 온 자원봉사자들의 노고를 격려하고 봉사문화 확산을 도모하기 위해 마련됐다.

‘대구자원봉사자 대회’는 1997년 시작된 이후 매년 열리고 있으며, 봉사와 나눔의 가치를 실천한 시민들을 발굴·포상하는 지역 대표 행사로 자리잡아 왔다. 올해 행사는 ‘세계자원봉사자의 해, 자원봉사로 지속되는 미래’를 슬로건으로 김정기 대구시장 권한대행, 이만규 대구시의회 의장 등 주요 내빈과 자원봉사자 200여 명이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다.

행사는 식전 공연을 시작으로 자원봉사헌장 낭독, 유공자 시상, 기념 퍼포먼스 순으로 이어졌으며, 행사장 내에는 대구시자원봉사센터 설립 30주년을 기념한 사진전과 자원봉사 수상자들의 활동을 소개하는 전시도 마련됐다.

시상식에서는 제23회 대구자원봉사대상 수상자를 비롯해 정부포상·지자체 포상 등 총 42명에게 표창이 수여됐다. 대구사랑봉사단 소속 김영란 씨(68세)가 대상을, 권영오 씨(70세·한국장애인봉사협회)와 이재기 씨(61세·대한어머니회대구연합회 중구지회)가 본상을 각각 수상했다.

특히 올해는 대한민국 자원봉사대상 훈장 수상자가 대구에서 배출돼 눈길을 끌었다. 영예의 주인공은 대구글사랑학교 이경채 교장으로, 다년간 지역 문해교육과 봉사 활동에 헌신한 공로를 인정받았다. 이 밖에도 고재극 시민구조봉사단 단장을 포함한 19명이 대통령 표창 등 정부포상을 받았다.

기념식 마지막 순서로는 참석자 전원이 점등식을 진행하며 ‘2026 세계자원봉사자의 해’를 향한 도약을 다짐했다. 대구시는 내년 ‘대구자원봉사 30주년’과 ‘세계자원봉사자의 해’를 계기로 ‘자원봉사 선도도시 대구(D-Volunteering)’ 브랜드 구축을 본격화할 계획이다. 전 시민 참여 프로젝트 ‘자원봉사 물결운동’, 대구형 자원봉사 모델 개발 등 다양한 정책을 추진해 세대와 계층을 아우르는 참여 저변을 확대할 예정이다.

김정기 대구시장 권한대행은 “대구 자원봉사가 오늘의 위상을 갖기까지 보여주신 자원봉사자 여러분의 헌신에 깊이 감사드린다”며 “2026 세계자원봉사자의 해를 계기로 대구가 세계적으로 주목받는 자원봉사 도시로 도약할 수 있도록 예우와 지원을 강화하겠다”고 말했다.
