이번 포럼은 국회와 정부 부처, 공항 건설 분야의 최고 전문가들이 한자리에 모여 대구경북신공항 사업의 성공적인 추진 전략과 협력 방안을 논의하는 자리로 마련됐다.

기조강연은 인천국제공항 건설 초기부터 개항까지 실무를 총괄하고 국토교통부 항공정책실장 및 제2차관을 역임한 여형구 한국공항학회장이 맡아 ‘대구경북신공항을 중심으로 한 지역경제 활성화 방안’을 제시한다. 이어 조판기 국토연구원 부원장은 ‘기부대양여 사업의 한계와 사업구조 전환을 통한 국가–지방정부 협력 방안’을 발표할 예정이다.

나웅진 대구시 신공항건설단장과 이남억 경북도 공항투자본부장은 ‘대구 군 공항 이전사업의 추진 과정’과 ‘신공항을 기반으로 한 항공·물류·첨단산업 혁신 전략’을 각각 설명한다.

전문가 토론은 대구와 군 공항 이전 현안을 공유하고 있는 광주와의 ‘달빛동맹’ 관계를 고려해 최치국 광주연구원장이 좌장을 맡아 진행된다. 

토론에는 ▲박진서 한국교통연구원 항공우주교통연구본부장 ▲이동민 대한교통학회 수석부회장 ▲유병철 경운대 항공교통물류학과 교수 ▲조영재 ㈜유신 사장이 참여해 정부가 추진 중인 ‘5극3특’ 국가 균형성장 전략 속에서 대구경북 민·군 통합공항의 전략적 의미와 정책적 필요성을 심도 있게 논의한다.

이번 포럼은 26일부터 28일까지 열리는 ‘2025 대한민국 미래공항엑스포’의 통합 개회식과 함께 진행된다. 

현장에는 김정기 대구시장 권한대행, 양금희 경북도 경제부지사, 이만규 대구시의회 의장, 지역 국회의원, 주종완 국토교통부 항공정책실장 등이 참석해 대구경북 민·군 통합공항 이전·건설사업의 조속한 추진 의지를 다질 예정이다.

김정기 대구광역시장 권한대행은 “대구경북 민·군 통합공항 건설은 지역 현안을 넘어 국가 차원의 핵심 과제”라며 “이번 포럼을 통해 제시된 전문가 의견을 정책 추진의 나침반으로 삼고, 초당적 협력을 기반으로 정부 재정 지원을 조속히 확보할 수 있도록 사회적 공감대를 확대해 나가겠다”고 강조했다.

Daegu Metropolitan City and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province will co-host the 'Future-oriented New Airport Strategy Forum' at 2:00 PM on the 26th at Daegu EXCO Grand Ballroom B.

This forum brings together the National Assembly, government ministries, and leading experts in the airport construction field to discuss successful implementation strategies and cooperation measures for the Daegu-Gyeongbuk New Airport project.

Yeo Hyung-gu, President of the Korean Airport Association, who oversaw the construction of Incheon International Airport from its inception to its opening and served as Director of the Aviation Policy Office and Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, will deliver the keynote speech. He will present "Regional Economic Revitalization Plans Centered on the Daegu-Gyeongbuk New Airport." Cho Pan-ki, Vice President of the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, will then present "The Limitations of the Donation-Lending Project and Proposals for National-Local Government Cooperation through Restructuring."

Na Woong-jin, Director of the Daegu New Airport Construction Division, and Lee Nam-eok, Director of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Airport Investment Headquarters, will explain the "Progress of the Daegu Military Airport Relocation Project" and the "Aviation, Logistics, and High-Tech Industry Innovation Strategy Based on the New Airport."

The expert discussion will be moderated by Choi Chi-guk, Director of the Gwangju Research Institute, in consideration of the "Moonlight Alliance" between Daegu and Gwangju, which shares the military airport relocation issue.

The panelists will include Park Jin-seo, Director of the Aerospace and Transport Research Division at the Korea Transport Institute; Lee Dong-min, Senior Vice President of the Korean Society of Transport; Yoo Byeong-cheol, Professor of Aviation, Transport, and Logistics at Kyungwoon University; and Cho Young-jae, President of Yushin Co., Ltd. They will delve into the strategic significance and policy necessity of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk integrated civilian-military airport within the context of the government's "5-pole, 3-special" national balanced growth strategy.

This forum will be held in conjunction with the opening ceremony of the "2025 Korea Future Airport Expo," which will be held from the 26th to the 28th.

Acting Daegu Mayor Kim Jung-ki, North Gyeongsang Province Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs Yang Geum-hee, Daegu City Council Speaker Lee Man-gyu, local National Assembly members, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Aviation Policy Office Director Joo Jong-wan will attend the forum to solidify their commitment to expediting the relocation and construction of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk integrated civilian-military airport.

Acting Daegu Mayor Kim Jung-ki emphasized, "The construction of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk integrated civilian-military airport is not just a local issue; it is a key national task." He added, "We will use the expert opinions presented at this forum as a compass for policy implementation and, based on bipartisan cooperation, expand social consensus to secure government financial support as soon as possible."
