대구시는 25일부터 시청과 구·군, 공사·공단 부설주차장에서 모든 직원 차량을 대상으로 승용차 5부제를 전면 시행한다고 밝혔다.

5부제는 차량번호 끝자리를 기준으로 월요일 1·6번, 화요일 2·7번, 수요일 3·8번, 목요일 4·9번, 금요일 5·0번 차량의 운행을 제한하는 방식이다. 다만 장애인 차량과 임산부·유아 동승 차량, 친환경 차량 등은 적용 대상에서 제외된다.

시는 오는 4월 1일부터 일반 시민을 대상으로 한 5부제도 시범 도입한다. 대상은 도심 내 공영주차장 2곳으로, 국채보상운동기념공원 주차장과 경상감영공원 주차장에서 운영될 예정이다.

대구시는 자가용 도심 진입을 억제하고 대중교통 이용을 유도하기 위해 향후 주차요금 조정도 검토할 방침이다.

대중교통 서비스 개선도 병행된다. 출근 시간대 시내버스와 도시철도 배차를 집중 확대해 대기시간을 단축하고, 교통 취약지역에는 수요응답형버스(DRT)를 단계적으로 확대 운영할 계획이다.

이와 함께 시민들의 교통비 부담 완화를 위해 승용차요일제 마일리지와 K-패스, 광역 무료환승제 등 다양한 지원 정책도 시행 중이다. 특히 승용차요일제는 주 1회 자가용 대신 대중교통을 이용할 경우 이용 요금의 80%를 마일리지로 적립해 주고, 공영주차장 요금 할인 등의 혜택도 제공한다.

대구시는 4월을 ‘대중교통 이용 집중 홍보기간’으로 지정하고 시민단체와 함께 이용 활성화 캠페인을 전개해 대중교통 중심의 이동 문화 정착을 유도할 계획이다.
