【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항상공회의소(회장 나주영) 경북동부FTA통상진흥센터는 지난 5월 29일, 포항상의 2층 회의실에서 ‘철강산업 글로벌 통상대응 설명회’를 개최했다.
이번 설명회는 지역 철강기업을 비롯한 수출업체들을 대상으로 글로벌 통상환경 변화에 선제적으로 대응하고 산업별 관세 이슈 및 애로사항 해결을 지원하기 위해 마련됐다.
교육은 대구본부세관의 한은정 팀장과 한국표준협회의 최승근 위원이 강사로 참여해 ▲미국의 대(對)한국 관세 부과 동향과 관세청 대응 방안 ▲EU의 탄소국경조정제도(CBAM) 도입에 따른 기업 대응 전략 등 시급하고 실무적인 통상 이슈를 중심으로 강의를 진행했다.
경북동부FTA통상진흥센터 관계자는 “이번 교육은 기업 담당자들에게 다소 생소할 수 있었던 CBAM 제도를 소개하고, 미 관세 대응 전략을 공유함으로써 실질적인 대응역량 향상에 기여하고자 했다”며 “앞으로도 기업의 수출 경쟁력 강화를 위한 다양한 맞춤형 지원을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 경북동부FTA통상진흥센터는 수출입과 FTA 활용에 어려움을 겪는 중소기업을 대상으로 ‘찾아가는 FTA 지원 서비스’를 운영 중이다. 상주 관세사가 직접 기업을 방문하거나 전화 상담을 통해 수출 절차, 원산지 증명서 발급, 협정별 FTA 활용 전략 등을 무료로 1:1 맞춤 지원한다.

On May 29, the Pohang Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Na Ju-young) Gyeongbuk Eastern FTA Trade Promotion Center held a ‘Global Trade Response Briefing Session for Steel Industry’ in the conference room on the 2nd floor of Pohang Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
This briefing session was designed to proactively respond to changes in the global trade environment and support industry-specific tariff issues and difficulties for exporters, including local steel companies.
The training was led by Team Leader Han Eun-jung of Daegu Main Customs and Commissioner Choi Seung-geun of the Korea Standards Association, and lectures were given on urgent and practical trade issues, such as ▲Trends in US tariffs against Korea and Customs Service response measures ▲Corporate response strategies in response to the introduction of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
An official from the Gyeongbuk Eastern FTA Trade Promotion Center said, “This training was intended to introduce the CBAM system, which may be somewhat unfamiliar to business managers, and to contribute to improving practical response capabilities by sharing strategies for responding to US tariffs,” and added, “We will continue to provide various customized support to strengthen companies’ export competitiveness in the future.”
Meanwhile, the Gyeongbuk Eastern FTA Trade Promotion Center is operating an ‘FTA Support Service on the Go’ for small and medium-sized businesses that are having difficulties with imports and exports and utilizing FTAs. Resident customs brokers visit businesses in person or provide free 1:1 customized support for export procedures, issuing certificates of origin, and strategies for utilizing FTAs by agreement through phone consultations.
