29일 오전 포항상공회의소 2층 회의실에서 열린 이번 간담회는 이강덕 포항시장, 김일만 포항시의회 의장, 전익현 포항철강관리공단 이사장, 남택정 한국은행 포항본부장을 비롯한 지역 금융기관장들이 참석한 가운데 열렸다.

글로벌 고금리 기조, 미·중 갈등, 미국의 고율 관세 정책 등 대외 경제 불확실성이 커지는 가운데, 철강과 이차전지 등 포항 주력산업의 수익성 하락과 중소기업의 자금난이 가중되는 상황에서 이번 간담회는 실질적인 금융 지원 방안을 논의하고 민관 협력의 해법을 모색하기 위해 마련됐다.

나주영 회장은 인사말을 통해 “복합적인 경제 악재로 인해 지역 중소기업들이 자금난을 가장 먼저 체감하고 있다”며 “위기 속에서도 회복의 발판을 마련할 수 있도록 금융기관의 적극적인 유동성 공급이 절실하다”고 강조했다.

이강덕 시장은 “그동안 지역경제 안정을 위해 힘써준 금융기관에 감사드리며, 앞으로도 상공회의소와 철강관리공단, 금융기관이 협력해 지역경제 회복의 기반을 함께 다져나가길 바란다”고 밝혔다.

김일만 시의회 의장 역시 “지금은 실질적이고 실효성 있는 금융 대책이 시급한 시점”이라며 “기업 생존을 위한 현실적인 지원 방안이 간담회를 통해 마련돼야 한다”고 말했다.

남택정 한국은행 포항본부장은 “지역 중소기업의 자금 사정을 면밀히 모니터링하고, 중소기업 대출프로그램(C2) 운영을 강화하겠다”며 “필요시 본부에 대출 한도 증액을 건의하는 방안도 검토하겠다”고 밝혔다.

이날 간담회에 참석한 금융기관장들은 “현장의 애로사항에 공감한다”며 “정책자금 연계, 대출조건 완화, 보증 확대 등 실질적인 금융 지원 방안을 적극 검토해 지역경제 회복에 힘을 보태겠다”고 한목소리를 냈다.

한편, 포항상공회의소는 이번 간담회를 계기로 금융권과의 긴밀한 협력체계를 구축하고, 위기에 처한 지역 기업들의 안정적인 경영 활동을 지원하기 위한 다양한 대응책을 마련해 나갈 방침이다.
