포항상공회의소(회장 문충도)는 지난 17일 포스코국제관에서 신병주 건국대학교 사학과 교수를 초빙해 상공의원, 회원업체 대표 및 임원, 중소기업 대표 및 여성기업인들을 대상으로 ‘조선시대 왕으로부터 배우는리더십’이라는 주제로 경제아카데미 4주차 강의를 진행했다고 18일 밝혔다.

자타공인 조선시대 전문가로서, 외교통상부 외규장각도서 자문포럼 위원을 역임하고, KBS 역사저널 그날과 JTBC 차이나는 클라스 출연 등 왕성한 활동을 하고 있는 신병주 교수는 역대 조선왕조별 정책과 시대상황을 예로 들며 “조선의 왕은 저마다 각기 다른 시대 요구와 배경 속에서 국가를 합리적으로 이끌어갈 임무를 부여 받았다”며 “때로는 과감한 개혁정책을 선보이고, 때로는왕권에 맞서는 세력에 대해 강력히 대응했다”고 설파했다.

이어 “적절한 정책추진, 도덕과 청렴성, 여론 존중 등 전통사회 왕들에게 요구된 덕목들은 현대 사회에서도 여전히 유효하다”며 “역사는 과거와 현재의 대화라는 점을 되새기며, 기업 CEO 등 한 조직의 리더는 역사적 시대 상황에 따라 성공과 실패를 오간 정책을 거울로 삼아야 한다”고 강조했다.
