【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항상공회의소(회장 나주영)는 6월 9일 오후 3시 포항상의 2층 회의실에서 경북지속가능발전협의회(회장 정태주), 한동대학교(행정부총장 조윤석), 경북산학융합원(원장 박재우)과 함께 지역 기업의 ESG(환경·사회·지배구조) 경영 활성화를 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다.

이번 협약을 통해 네 기관은 ▲경북 지역 기업의 ESG 기반 글로벌 경쟁력 강화를 위한 교육 및 컨설팅 지원 ▲산학협력을 통한 지속가능한 산업 모델 구축을 위한 공동 연구 ▲기타 ESG 경영을 위한 상호 협력 사항 등을 중심으로 지역 기업의 ESG 확산을 적극 지원할 계획이다.

협약의 실질적 성과를 위해 오는 7월 7일, 10일, 14일 세 차례에 걸쳐 ‘ESG 아카데미’도 운영된다. ESG의 기본 개념부터 기업 현장에서 요구되는 탄소배출 관련 실무까지 아우르는 본 교육에는 곽상훈 한동대학교 창의융합원 교수, 서상배 MK E&C 팀장, 김남현 동국대학교 ESG 센터장 등 이론과 실무를 겸비한 전문가들이 강사로 나선다.

이번 아카데미는 참가비 없이 진행되며, 신청은 6월 10일부터 포항상공회의소와 경북지속가능발전협의회를 통해 가능하다.

나주영 포항상공회의소 회장은 “이번 협약은 기업들이 ESG 경영을 보다 쉽게 이해하고 실천할 수 있도록 지원하기 위한 출발점”이라며 “지역 기업의 지속가능한 성장과 경쟁력 강화를 위해 힘을 모아가겠다”고 말했다.

Pohang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 4-party business agreement to promote ESG management of local companies

On June 9th at 3 PM in the 2nd floor conference room of Pohang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pohang Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Na Ju-young) signed a business agreement (MOU) with Gyeongbuk Sustainable Development Council (Chairman Jeong Tae-joo), Handong University (President of Administration Cho Yoon-seok), and Gyeongbuk Industry-Academia Convergence Institute (President Park Jae-woo) to promote ESG (environment, society, governance) management of local companies.

Through this agreement, the four organizations plan to actively support the spread of ESG by local companies, focusing on ▲education and consulting support to strengthen the global competitiveness of local companies based on ESG, ▲joint research to establish a sustainable industry model through industry-academia cooperation, and ▲other mutual cooperation for ESG management.

To achieve the actual results of the agreement, the ‘ESG Academy’ will also be held three times on July 7th, 10th, and 14th. This training, which covers everything from the basic concepts of ESG to the carbon emissions-related practices required in corporate settings, will be taught by experts with both theoretical and practical knowledge, including Professor Kwak Sang-hoon of Handong University’s Creative Convergence Institute, Team Leader Seo Sang-bae of MK E&C, and Director Kim Nam-hyun of Dongguk University’s ESG Center.

This academy will be held without an admission fee, and applications can be made through the Pohang Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Gyeongbuk Sustainable Development Council starting June 10.

Pohang Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Na Ju-young said, “This agreement is a starting point to support companies to understand and practice ESG management more easily,” and added, “We will join forces to strengthen the sustainable growth and competitiveness of local companies.”
