HUG의 미회수 전세금은 보증사고의 증가에 따라 해마다 급증했다. 2018년 792억원, 2019년 3,442억원, 2020.8월 3,254억원으로 사고금액이 늘어나면서, HUG의 대위변제금 또한 2018년 583억원, 2019년 2,836억원, 2020.8월 3,015억원으로 증가했다. 이에 미회수액의 규모 또한 2018년301억원에서, 2019년 1,182억원, 20.8월 1,426억원으로 폭증했다.

김상훈 의원은“7.10대책으로 임대사업자 보증보험 의무화가 도입되어 향후 미회수율은 더욱 증가할 것으로 예상된다”며,“정부 재정을 감안할 때 전세금을 갚아주고, 떼이는 것도 한계가 있다. HUG는 더 강화된 채무관리 방안을 선제적으로 마련해야 할 것”이라고 주문했다.
