【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=한반도 평화와 공동번영을 위해 개최된 남북경협 아카데미가 대구에서 개최된 가운데 임종석 남북경제문화협력재단 이사장이 참석해 기조강연을 했다.

3일 오후 5시 30분 호텔수성에서 개최된 남북경협 아카데미 1기 입학식에는 임종석 이사장을 비롯하여 아카데미를 주최한 경일대학교 정현태 총장과 대구문화방송 박명석 대표이사, 국민의힘 김상훈 국회의원, 강대식 국회의원, 김승수 국회의원 등이 참석해 눈길을 끌었다.

남북경협 아카데미는 3일 열린 1기 입학식을 시작으로 오는 17일부터 격주 간격으로 12차례 강연이 이어질 예정이다.

이날 기조강연에 앞서 축사에 나선 김상훈 의원은 “1953년 한국전쟁이 끝났을 때 대한민국 1인당 국민소득이 67달러였다. 현재 우리나라 GDP는 3만 달러를 넘은 것으로 알려진다. 이런 과정이 오기까지 많은 일들이 있었다. 대한민국 경제가 새롭게 도약하기 위해서는 새로운 발판이 필요하다. 남북경협이 그 역할을 해야 한다고 생각한다. 통일로 간다는 전제하에 남북경협이 상생과 공존의 돌파구를 열어줄 수단이 되리라 기대한다”고 말했다.

이어 강대식 의원은 “남북경제협력이 1992년도에 시작되어 한때는 훈풍이 불기도 했지만 작금의 시대에서는 한겨울보다 더 차가운 단절의 시기를 겪고 있다. 남북경제 협력은 단기적으로 봤을 때 관계 개선을 추구하고 장기적으로 봤을 때 한반도와 동북아 평화구축에 디딤돌이 되리라 생각한다. 그런 연유로 경협 아카데미에서 배움을 더 깊이 해서 한반도의 평화체계를 구축하는 초석이 될거라고 바라고 믿어 의심치 않는다. 아무쪼록 6개월간 소중한 추억 많이 쌓고 남북 간 대화의 물꼬를 트는데 시작이 되어주시길 바란다.”

김승수 의원은 “균형있는 남북관계에 대한 시각을 가질 수 있도록 아카데미가 역할을 하길 바란다”면서 “저희 국민의 힘에도 태영호 의원같은 분들이 계신데 저도 몰랐던 이야기를 많이 들을 수 있었다. 아카데미가 좋은 교육과정이 되길 바라며 훌륭한 프로그램 만들어주신 관계자 여러분께 감사드린다”고 전했다.

이어 기조 강연에 나선 임종석 이사장은 대통령 비서실장 당시 경험한 3차례의 남북정상회담 등의 경험을 바탕으로 대한민국 재도약은 평화를 통해 가능하다는 점을 역설했다.

그는 “2016년 이후 우리나라의 주식시장은 북한의 미사일 시험 발사쯤에는 거의 영향도 받지 않는다”면서 “우리국민들이 최소한 전쟁은 일어나지 않을 것이라는 믿음을 가지고 있다는 분석은 위안이지만 안보 리스크가 포함되어 세계시장에서 낮게 평가된 것 이라는 분석은 너무나 안타깝다”고 말했다.

그러면서 “노동력을 기반으로 한 산업들은 한계에 부딪힌 지 오래고 인구 5천만의 내수시장은 글로벌기업들이 새로운 도약을 꿈꾸기에는 지나치게 작다. 새로운 일자리와 경쟁력 투자처, 원료조달, 인프라 건설 그리고 새로운 평화와 미래를 위해서 바라보는 방향은 모두가 같다”고 전하며 “지난 2018년 판문점 1차 정상회담을 일주일 앞두고 북은 스스로 핵 경제 병진 노선을 폐기하고 경제건설총력집중노선을 결정했고 지난 2년간 여러 어려움에도 불구하고 이 방침을 유지하고 있는 상황이 무척 반갑다”고 덧붙였다.

그러면서 그는 “1953년 세계 최빈국에서 2020년 10월 GDP 세계 10위 국가가 된 대한민국 경제발전과 민주화를 통시에 이룬 대한민국의 동력 대구에서 또 한 번의 도약을 이룰 퍼즐 평화의 미래를 이야기하게 된 것을 진심으로 기쁘게 생각한다”고 말했다.

아울러 “개성공단에서 확인한 가능성을 확신으로 바꾸는 두만강, 압록강을 넘어 인구 1억 5천의 동북 3성까지 내수시장화 하는 그래서 70년을 떨어져 산 우리민족이 함께 더불어 잘 사는 공동번영과 평화의 미래가 나누어지길 바란다”며 기대를 전했다.
