【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=최휘영 문화체육관광부 장관이 대구·경북 지역 문화 인프라 확충에 힘을 싣겠다는 뜻을 밝혔다.

최 장관은 지난 14일 열린 국정감사에서 경북도청 후적지에 대구국립근대미술관과 국립뮤지컬콤플렉스를 짓는 사업에 대해 "적극적인 의지를 가지고 추진하겠다"고 답했다.

김승수 의원은 이날 수도권과 지역 간 문화예술 인프라 격차가 심각하다고 지적했다. 전국 공연장의 31.3%가 서울에 몰려 있으며, 인구 10만명당 공연장 수는 서울이 4.5개인 반면 광역시는 2.4개, 전국 시·도는 2.8개에 그친다는 설명이다.

김 의원은 경북도청 후적지 개발 사업이 정권과 무관하게 추진돼야 할 국가적 사업이라고 강조했다. 충남도청 후적지 개발처럼 국유 부지에 국유 문화시설을 세우는 만큼, 기재부가 요구하는 민간자본 유치는 타당하지 않다는 주장이다.

그는 광주의 아시아문화중심도시 특별회계, 부산의 국제영화제와 지스타를 예로 들며 지방 거점도시 특화 지원의 필요성을 역설했다. 내년 20주년을 맞는 국내 유일의 뮤지컬 축제 DIMF를 개최하는 대구야말로 오페라와 뮤지컬 공연의 대표 도시로서 과감한 지원이 필요하다는 것이다.

최 장관은 "지역문화의 균형 발전 차원에서 거점도시별 특화 부분을 잘 살려야 한다"며 "올해 예비타당성조사 신청이 다소 부족했는데, 다시 제대로 준비해서 신청하겠다"고 화답했다.

국립뮤지컬콤플렉스와 국립근대미술관 사업이 올해 하반기와 내년에 기재부 예비타당성조사 대상 사업으로 순차 선정될 수 있도록 힘써달라는 김 의원의 당부에, 최 장관은 적극 추진을 약속하며 화답했다.

He argued that Daegu, hosting Korea's only musical festival, DIMF, which celebrates its 20th anniversary next year, is a leading city for opera and musical performances and deserves bold support.

Minister Choi stated, "To ensure balanced development of regional culture, we must effectively leverage the specialized aspects of each hub city." He added, "This year's preliminary feasibility study applications were somewhat lacking, but we will prepare properly and submit them again."

Representative Kim urged Minister Choi to work toward sequentially selecting the National Musical Complex and National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art projects for preliminary feasibility studies by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance in the second half of this year and next year, and Minister Choi pledged to actively pursue such efforts.
