7일 문화체육관광부(장관 황희)가 국가기증 이건희 소장품관(이하 이건희 기증관) 건립 후보지를 서울 용산과 송현동 부지 2곳으로 선정한 가운데 이건희 기증관을 유치하고자 했던 대구시가 깊은 유감을 표명하고 나섰다.
대구시는 문체부의 이같은 결정을 두고 “대구경북 시·도민뿐만 아니라 비수도권 국민 모두에게 깊은 상처와 실망을 안긴 결정”이라고 밝혔다.
시는 “그간 정부가 그토록 강조해온 문화분권 및 균형발전 정책기조에 역행하는 결정으로 국립문화시설의 지방 분산으로 국토의 균형 잡힌 발전을 바라던 지역민들의 염원을 무참히 짓밟았다”며 “이로 인해 온전한 문화 분권 실현을 통한 국가균형발전 달성은 요원한 일이 되어 버렸다.”고 비판했다.
특히 대구시는 “문체부가 기증품 활용방안을 마련하는데 결정적 역할을 한 ‘국가기증 이건희 소장품 활용위원회’ 구성원 대부분이 서울에서 활동 중인 전문가로 구성되었고, 논의 과정에서 지역의 예술인이나 국민들의 의견을 수렴할 절차가 한번도 없었다”고 지적하면서 “공정성과 절차적 정당성을 모두 결여한 채 진행되었다”고 질타를 이어갔다.
아울러 대구시는 “지난 몇 개월간 이건희 미술관 유치를 문화분권의 소중한 기회라 생각하고 유치를 추진한 30여개 자치단체와 지역민의 소망을 짓밟은 폭거”라고 주장하며 “수도권 집중화라는 대한민국이 안고 있던 고질적인 병폐들이 더욱 심화되는 계기가 될 것”이라고 전했다.
