대구 국민의힘 소속 국회의원 16명이 이건희 미술관의 서울 건립을 규탄하는 공동 성명서를 발표했다.

이들은 14일 성명서를 통해 지난 7월 이건희 미술관의 서울 건립 결정에 대해 “문재인 정부가 수도권 중심의 사고방식에 사로잡혀, 비수도권 2800만 국민의 문화향유권을 철저히 무시한 처사”라고 질타했다.

그러면서 “문체부가 전문가 위원회를 수도권 인사 위주로 구성했고, 이미 공무원 중심으로 지역공모는 불가하다는 결론을 내린 정황이 밝혀졌다”고 주장했다.

이어 “이건희 미술관 건립이 서울로 결정된 것은, 문재인 정부가 지방분권은 전혀 관심도 없고, 전국의 문화 불균형 역시 전혀 해소할 의지가 없다는 것을 확인한 셈”이라고 꼬집었다.

이들은 국민들의 문화향유권 불균형이 더욱 심화되고 있다는 점을 언급하며 “전국 국립 공연시설의 14곳 중 9곳이 서울에 위치해 있으며, 대구 경북은 단 한 곳도 없다”고 설명했다.

그러면서 “서울 건립 결정을 철회하고 수도권을 배제한 비수도권 지자체가 모두 참여하여 투명하고 공정한 공모를 통해 입지를 결정해야 한다.”고 강조했다.

아울러 16명의 국회의원은 정부를 향해 “공정하게 추진할 자신이 없으면 이번 서울 결정을 철회하고 차기 정부로 미루길 바란다”고 촉구했다.
