【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=주호영 국회부의장(국민의힘·대구 수성갑)이 대구·경북 행정통합 특별법이 무산된 데 대해 “지역차별”이라며 강하게 비판에 나섰다.

이번 국회에서 전남·광주 통합특례 법안이 통과됐지만 대구·경북 법안은 보류된 점을 두고 “‘같은 날 출발한 열차에 한쪽만 녹색불을 주고, 다른 쪽에는 빨간불을 켠 셈’”이라며 불공정성을 강조했다.

주 의원은 “7년 넘게 추진해온 통합 논의가 한순간에 물거품이 됐다”고 지적하면서 “특정 지역에만 유리하게 법이 처리됐다”고 주장했다.

그러면서 이재명 대통령에게 7쪽 분량의 손편지를 직접 공개했다. 그는 서한에서 “대구·경북은 통합 요건을 모두 갖춘 만큼 꼭 추진돼야 한다”며 “모두의 대통령으로서 균형 있는 결정을 내려달라”고 촉구했다.

대구·경북 통합 특별법은 국회 행정안전위원회를 통과했지만, 법제사법위원회에선 보류된 상태다. 이 과정에서 대구시의회가 기존 입장에서 돌아서 반대 의견을 내면서 법안 처리에 영향을 미친 것으로 알려졌다.

주 의원은 더불어민주당에 책임을 묻는 동시에, 선거를 앞둔 정치적 계산이 작용했다고 지적했다. 

특히 김부겸 전 국무총리를 겨냥해 “통합 무산 과정에서 아무런 역할을 하지 않다가, 사후에 발언을 이어가는 것은 설득력이 없다”며 비판의 수위를 높였다.

주 의원은 “수도권 집중 현상 속에서, 지역 소멸을 막기 위한 마지막 시도가 무산됐다”며 “이대로라면 청년 유출과 지역 위기가 더 심각해질 수 있다”고 우려했다. 

아울러 “500만 시·도민께 송구하다. 끝까지 함께 대응하겠다”며 유감을 나타냈다.

National Assembly Vice Speaker Joo Ho-young (People Power Party, Daegu Suseong-gap) strongly criticized the failure of the Special Act on Administrative Integration of Daegu and Gyeongbuk, calling it "regional discrimination."

The Special Act on Daegu and Gyeongbuk Integration passed the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee but remains on hold in the Legislation and Judiciary Committee. It is reported that the Daegu City Council influenced the handling of the bill by reversing its previous stance and expressing opposition during this process.

Assemblyman Joo held the Democratic Party of Korea accountable while pointing out that political calculations ahead of the election played a role.

In particular, targeting former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, he raised the level of criticism, stating, "It is unconvincing for him to continue speaking after the fact, having played no role in the process of the merger's failure."

Assemblyman Joo expressed concern, saying, "The last attempt to prevent regional extinction amidst the concentration of population in the capital area has failed," and added, "If things continue like this, the outflow of youth and the regional crisis could become even more serious."

Furthermore, he expressed regret, stating, "I apologize to the 5 million citizens of the city and province. I will respond together with them until the end."
