무대에 오른 이재명 후보는 첫마디부터 “여기 진짜 대구 맞나예? 모인 여러분들을 보니까 옛날 대구와는 분위기가 다르다. 대구가 디비진 것 같다”며 지역의 변화를 체감하는 듯한 인사를 건넸다.

그는 색깔과 진영을 넘어서는 정치를 강조했다. “민주당의 이재명이면 어떻고, 무소속이면 어떻고, 국민의힘 이재명이면 또 어떻습니까. 중요한 건 국민에게 쓸모 있는 도구가 되는, 일 잘하는 사람”이라며 지지를 호소했다.
