【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=더불어민주당 대구광역시당이 김부겸 전 국무총리에게 대구시장 출마를 공식 요청하고, 대구 지역 현안에 대한 전폭적인 지원 의지를 밝혔다.

정 대표는 “대구에는 무엇이든 다 해드리고 싶다. 다해드림 센터장이 되고 싶은 심정”이라며 당의 전폭적 지원 의지를 강조했다. 

또한 김 전 총리를 “공공재”로 비유하며 “국가와 대구, 그리고 국민 통합을 위해 쓰임이 있다면 다시 한 번 용기를 내달라”고 당부했다.

김 전 총리는 이에 대해 “정 대표가 퇴로를 다 차단하며 말씀하신다”며 웃어 보였지만, “국민 통합과 국가 균형 발전이라는 큰 틀에서 이 문제를 들여다보고 있다”고 답했다. 

이어 “어떤 지역도 소외되지 않고, 지역 청년들의 일자리를 만들겠다는 당의 의지에 공감한다”며 대구 발전에 대한 생각을 밝혔다.

민주당은 로봇산업 중심도시 조성, AI 혁신 도시 구축, 민·군 통합공항 이전 등 대구의 주요 현안을 당 차원의 정책적, 정치적 지원으로 뒷받침하겠다는 방침도 내놨다.

정치권에서는 단순한 출마 권유를 넘어, 후보와 당이 결합된 선거 전략이라는 해석이 나온다. 중앙당이 특정 후보의 결단을 기점으로 지역 공약과 지원을 패키지로 제시해 선거 구도 선점을 노리고 있다는 분석이다.

Leader Chung emphasized the party's full commitment to support, stating, "I want to do everything for Daegu. I feel like I want to become the director of the 'Daehaedream' (All-in-One) Center."

He also likened former Prime Minister Kim to a "public good," urging him to "show courage once again if there is a use for the nation, Daegu, and national unity." Regarding this, Former Prime Minister Kim smiled and remarked, "Representative Chung is speaking while blocking all escape routes," but replied, "I am looking at this issue within the broader framework of national unity and balanced national development."

He then shared his thoughts on the development of Daegu, stating, "I sympathize with the party's commitment to ensuring no region is marginalized and to create jobs for local youth."

The Democratic Party also announced a plan to back Daegu's major pending issues—such as creating a hub for the robotics industry, establishing an AI innovation city, and relocating the integrated civilian-military airport—through party-level policy and political support.

Interpretations within political circles suggest that this goes beyond a mere invitation to run and represents an election strategy combining the candidate and the party. The analysis is that the central party is aiming to seize the initiative in the election landscape by presenting a package of regional pledges and support, centered on a specific candidate's decision.
