더불어민주당 경북도당은 이번 APEC정상회의를 “경북의 역사적 기회이자 미래 성장의 중심”으로 규정하며 기대감을 크게 드러냈다. ‘연결·혁신·번영’이라는 APEC 핵심 의제를 민주당의 가치와 접목시키는 구상도 내놨다. 

그러나 이를 둘러싸고 지역의 산업·인프라 현실과 이상적인 비전 사이에 간극이 크다는 지적이 잇따르고 있다.

민주당 경북도당은 이번 APEC을 통해 경북의 산업, 문화, 관광, 인재를 아우르는 ‘연결의 정치’를 본격적으로 추진하겠다고 밝혔다. 

포항, 울산, 경주를 잇는 산업벨트 강화와 동해·남해 물류망, 디지털 인프라 구축을 통한 ‘평화의 경제 축’ 조성, 북부 내륙권의 역사문화와 교육·연구 자원을 접목한 ‘균형형 초광역 발전축’ 등이 주요 구상으로 제시됐다. 

하지만 지역 내에서는 이러한 비전이 단순한 구호에 그치지 않으려면 구체적인 투자와 실행 전략이 반드시 뒷받침돼야 한다는 목소리가 나온다.

‘혁신’ 부문에선 사람 중심의 혁신을 전면에 내세웠다. 대학과 연구기관, 중소기업이 주도하는 지역 혁신 클러스터 조성이 방안으로 제시됐지만 현실은 녹록지 않다. 

경북 지역 중소기업은 여전히 자금, 인력, 기술 개발에 어려움을 겪고 있으며, 대학과 산업 간 연계도 부족하다는 평가가 지배적이다. 

지역 전문가들은 “구호에 머물지 않으려면 보여주기식이 아닌 현장 중심의 정책 로드맵이 필요하다”고 지적한다.

번영을 위한 비전도 내세웠지만, 구체적인 장애물은 여전하다. 경북도당은 청년·여성·농어촌 모두가 성장하는 ‘포용적 번영’을 목표로 공정, 생명, 포용, 평화의 가치를 강조했다. 

하지만 실제로는 청년 인구 유출과 여성 경력 단절, 농어촌 소멸 위기 같은 구조적 문제가 여전히 지역 사회 곳곳에 남아 있다. 

지역민들은 “국제행사로 지역이 더 빛나는 것 같아도 정작 일상은 달라지지 않는다”며 세밀한 정책 개발과 추진을 요구하고 있다.

민주당 경북도당은 "이번 APEC이 경북의 연결과 혁신, 번영의 전환점이 되길 기대하고 있다"며 "다만 구호에 머물지 않고 현실을 냉정하게 들여다보며 실질적인 변화를 이끌 정책 추진이 절실하다"고 덧붙였다.

In the "Innovation" category, people-centered innovation was prioritized. While the creation of regional innovation clusters led by universities, research institutes, and SMEs was proposed as a solution, the reality remains challenging.

SMEs in the Gyeongbuk region continue to struggle with funding, human resources, and technology development, and the prevailing view is that there is a lack of connectivity between universities and industry.

Regional experts point out, "To move beyond mere slogans, a policy roadmap focused on the field is needed, not just a slogan."

Despite the vision for prosperity, concrete obstacles persist. The Gyeongbuk Provincial Chapter emphasized the values ​​of fairness, life, inclusion, and peace, aiming for "inclusive prosperity" where youth, women, and rural communities thrive.

However, structural problems such as youth population exodus, women's career interruptions, and the threat of rural extinction still persist throughout the community.

Local residents, complaining that "while international events may seem to enhance the region's visibility, their daily lives remain unchanged," are demanding detailed policy development and implementation.

The Democratic Party's Gyeongbuk Provincial Chapter added, "We hope this APEC will be a turning point for Gyeongbuk's connectivity, innovation, and prosperity." They added, "However, we urgently need to move beyond mere slogans and instead objectively examine the realities and implement policies that will lead to real change."
