미래연합은 오는 24일 오후 2시, 경북 포항 UA컨벤션 6층에서 열리는 경북도당 창당대회를 시작으로 전국 시도당 창당대회를 이어갈 계획이다.

이들이 보수 텃밭으로 분류되는 경북도에서 첫 발을 내딛는 것은 양당 기득권을 타파하고 신뢰받는 정치를 만들겠다는 의지의 표명으로 비춰진다.

경북도당 창당준비위원장은 지난 18일 민주당을 탈당한 황재선 전 더불어민주당 영주영양봉화울진 지역위원장이 맡았다. 변호사 출신인 황 위원장은 민주당 인권위 부위원장 등을 역임했다.

황 위원장은 입당 기자회견에서 “지역주의를 깨기 위해 협력의 지대로 가겠다”며 “경상북도에서 정치를 복원해 지방 소멸의 문제까지 해결할 수 있는 유능한 정당을 만드는데 힘을 보태겠다”고 밝힌 바 있다.
